Perfect TWO person tent

I bought this as a two-person tent that was somewhat small that could be used with my son for Cub Scout camping. The 8' x 8' floorplan was perfect for two sleeping bags and gear. Probably enough room for a second son when he starts Scouts.

HOWEVER, my chief motivator for buying this tent was ease of setup. Needs to be one that a seven year-old could put up and he can. I hate tents with a bunch of tie down cords that stretch all over the place and can be tripped over. In light wind conditions you don't need ANY for this tent.

Lay it out. Two shock-cord poles criss-cross through the loops, raise it up and you're done. Same for the fly. Two crossing poles, lay it on top of the tent and use the bungee cords to attach to the corners of the tent. Less than ten minutes.

Good design. Lots of pockets. Ventilation okay. Door zipper could be one-piece but no complaints there.

So far, no heavy rain, so can't speak to waterproof-ness.

Glad I bought a quality tent. I will probably buy the Sunrise 11 in the future for when the whole family goes camping.

Great Tent

After 2 camping trips to the mountains that ended in total wash outs...meaning my air mattress was floating in water 10 minutes after I put the tent up, I decided it was time for a new tent. I did my research this time and boy did I hit a home run. This tent is awesome. Used it this past weekend and Once again we had a major thunderstorm. It was so bad that someone went to the wash house and got a mop and bucket and was passing it around so everyone could clean up their tent. Lucky for me I was able to pass and everyone was shocked that I was dry.
Only draw back is the size. It claims to be 8x8 but in fact its more like 7x7. Not much room left once you add a full size mattress. I don't see how 4 people could sleep in this tent.
Very easy to set up and take down.
I would also recommend putting a tarp underneath to protect the flooring.

Great tent!

My family and I (two adults and a nine-year-old) took this to a national park, where we car-camped for two nights. Having had condensation issues with previous tents, I was particularly keen to see how this one would do. The first night was clear and comfortable, and although I left the rain fly on just in case, I opened the tops of all the windows as well as the bottom window in the door. It was great! Everything was dry in the morning.

The second night we had torrential rain and some heavy wind. We were only able to leave two windows open a bit at the top, where they were covered by the fly; in the morning, we emerged completely dry and comfortable. I was very pleased.

There was enough room for the three of us and some gear; I wouldn't try putting four adults in this tent unless they are close friends and don't toss at night. We didn't use the gear lofts.

Nice Tent, Plenty of Room

I have owned Eureka tents in the past so when back in the market for a new tent, Eureka was the first placed I looked.

I needed a quality tent, easy to set up, roomy enough for two people with cots (the short leg style) and modest gear.

The Eureka Sunrise met all expectations. I went camping with my daughter within days of its arrival. Setting up the tent was a snap as was breaking it down and packing it (it actually fit in the stow bag from which it came.

There was plenty of room and the little storage compartments throughout the tent were handy and logically place. Zippers were great and there was no condensation in the morning.

The weather was nice, no rain. I did waterproof seams as I have with all my tents.

You will enjoy this tent immensely.

Room with a view!

The only thing better than being inside a nice looking tent is being inside a tent that is all windows. That was what I set out to find and this tent is the best I found. My wife loved being surrounded by scenery in the morning.

To my surprise, there were seams (sealed) on the floor. I always use a waterproof ground cloth rolled under at the edge and tucked just underneath the edge of the tent, and we did experience a serious storm one night. The tent stayed erect and dry with the windows zipped almost all the way up.

There are only two changes I would make: Extend the rain fly out further, especially over the door, and secondly, make the tent a warmer color, something in a burt orange perhaps.

Super tent!

We are a couple who bought this tent to replace a 25+ year old tent of the exact same model. We enjoyed many car camping trips with the old Sunrise 8; its great design let us leave all or most windows open even during heavy rain. The fabric on the old tent eventually weakened and we bought this new model. It packs considerably smaller, is even easier to set up, and has even more screening (now the roof has a great screen area) than the model from the 1980's! We now are in our 60's but this spacious tent lets us sleep in comfort on an air mattress. It has handy storage compartments and other smart details too.

Great value !

I've only used this a few times so far and the weather was pretty nice each rain . How ever the tent seems to me to be well made.
The material is quite sturdy and the zippers look to be well made . I am anticipating many years of use from it. It would be a little tight for 4 adults but does fit 2 adults with plenty of gear very comfortably . It's very easy for 1 person to set up. It takes me about 20 minutes.
Most of my camping is done from the back of a car during the fall, spring & early summer. I like cool weather !

No Regrets After 10+ Years!

I first purchased this tent for my kids to use at summer camps in Florida. The Sunrise 8 provided the ventilation they needed. As long as the rain isn't blowing sideways you can open the windows for ventilation during a rainstorm and stay dry. It is a little heavy for backpacking, but if split up and shared by two or three backpackers it probably weighs less than separate 1-man tents. After 10+ years of use, it was just destroyed by a forest fire and even though I also own a Kelty Vortex 4, I plan to replace it's ashes with another Sunrise 8. It's the best tent I have found for camping in Florida.

Our Eureka Sunrise 8 just wore out after 10 years. We love this tent! We've taken it backpacking, Quetico canoe trips, and car camping. The fly has finally lost its umph and is starting to leak. The floor and lower side walls are also starting to leak. In a BIG rain this is not your tent but that doesn't happen very often, right? To us it's much more important to have visibility (and no claustrophia!) and air flow than perfect waterproof-ness. Don't get me wrong, this did fine for lots of years! I just wish the fly came with taped seams. The only seams that are factory sealed are the floor.

My friends and I bought this tent for a trip to Bonnaroo in Tennessee last summer. The only element we had to brave was the heat, but overall we found the tent to totally serve it's purpose! We did a test run before leaving to make sure we knew how to set it up, which was very easy for two first-timers, and when we got to our campsite, had no trouble setting it up once again. We slept 3 people in this tent and it worked out well for the couple of days that we needed it. Highly reccommend!

Sturdy and Spacious with a few flaws

Large Sturdy Tent. Feels like it could take the abuse from a bunch of kids but it had some fatal flaws. It has a stake right in the middle of the door. I have been in tents like this and I am always tripping over that stake or stubbing my toe on it. Also the front door has no flap that covers the zipper so in the right conditions rain will come right in throught that zipper. These two things prompted us to return the tent.
