Positive Reviews:

I've been climbing for about 6 years now, mostly indoors and outdoors on some weekends. These are great for most climbs and I've only been unable to climb with these when using the smallest of footholds (when they slip off them), because the edges are fairly rounded. I don't usually have to worry about this though when climbing most routes.
I am aware that these are all-around, low-cost climbing shoes not made for about sizing for you guys- If these are your FIRST PAIR of climbing shoes you'll need something that fits snug so your toes just curve over a little. At a beginner level I wouldn't necessarily listen to what other guys are saying about going down a full size anything specific, and are therefore a common choice for beginners (I've seen several asking about what size to get here.) I'd like to clear a few things up or more. Climbing shoes are already made to be small for you're normal shoe size. If you've been climbing a while and are used to climbing shoes, it feels a lot easier to go down that much in size.
Try your regular shoe size first, which will give a tight but snug fit. Mine took about a month of climbing (2-3 times per week) to stretch just a little bit. They don't feel like they've stretched any more since, and when they do the fit seems more comfortable.
Overall these are awesome shoes for all-around climbing.

Bought these as my first pair of climbing shoes and COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! I've used them both in the gym and at Red River Gorge, KY over the last three months and have no complaints. Mine have not stretched as much as some suggested, but that may come over a bit more time. I have a size 15 foot and had trouble with the shoes at my university's gym, but these have been awesome.
Love the lace-up, but I'm a bit traditional. The feel is great through the toes, and I haven't noticed any slipping in the heel. My feet come out feeling pretty good after every weekend trip or weekday workout. If you're considering it, go for it!
Oh yeah, the blue will get you some compliments.

Great Starter Shoe

I bought these shoes after researching other brands and was happy with previous reviews of this particular shoe. After being fitted I bought the shoes online. Climbed indoor and outoor so far and both were much more enjoyable experiences having used rented or borrowed shoes previously.

I'm still hoping my purchase wasn't too hasty as the shoes fit perfect prior to climbing and a more experienced climber friend of mine told me they might stretch a little after a few uses.

Also, they turn my feet blue not from restricting blood flow but from the dye :).

Very comfortable beginner's climbing shoe. I have relatively flat feet, and the aggressive/advanced climbing shoes become extremely painful. The Evolv Royale has good rubber, fits well, and tightly, without hurting so much. Full length Laces let you cinch the shoe down where needed. Full Length Leather will form to your feet best over time. And the Thick laces can be pulled tightly with confidence. The only thing I could ask for on this shoe is more top rubber on the roof of the toe area for climbing upside down, but I'm not that skilled yet anyway!

I got in a pinch and had to buy a pair of these thinking I may have to replace them, but they are a solid shoe. I have long toes and a narrow foot and they fit like a glove. I'm sport climbing and beginning to bump 11's and these haven't held me back. I prob could go another half size to prevent some rolling of my foot on really small holds. Try a pair on and with the right foot you'll love em. The blue suede Is rad too!

I'm very pleased with these shoes. My toes are not crammed and don't get stiff, but still there is that important snug fit so important for edging and smearing. Soles are solid and don't slip. Toe box is sturdy and protect my toes when jamming. I would say that this is good all around shoe. If you are not hell bent on bagging the grades and want a shoe that is comfortable and reliable than this is that shoe.

I recommend these for a beginner because they are cheap compared to some of the non-all around shoes. The flat profile is good to support your feet when starting out, as you may not be used to using certain muscles in your feet. Also, because they are all-around, they will be pretty decent at almost everything. As you start climbing more and more, you will figure out what your next more specialized shoe should be.

So far so good

I'm a novice climber and bought this shoe because it was inexpensive. I have climbed walls and a cliff with them so far and they have performed as advertised. I would recommend them to anyone who was just getting started and not sure what type of climbing you would do. Very comfortable and easy to wear for extended climbs. Good value.

Great shoe for the money, I ordered a size down from my street shoe, uncomfortable at first but not unbearable. Have had about 7 3 hour gym climbs in them now and have stretched to fit great. Smears well but the edging is fairly weak in them do to the rounded toes. All in all a great all day shoe.

Great customer service {allowed me to exchange to a new different sized pair, after I found out they didn't fit me, (my fault)...and I have even used the previous pair for a climb!}
The shoes are great, really form fitting and had some good compliments.
I wear 9.5 street size, and got these in 9.5 too. Haven't stretched much at all.

Negative Reviews:

These were my first pair of shoes, Ive had these shoes for about 3 months now, climbing 4-5 days a week in them. They have been tearing at the heel for a while now, and started tearing about 3-4 weeks since ive had them. Heel hooking with these shoes are pretty bad, the shoe tends to slip a ways off your foot. Everytime you wear them, your foot gets stained blue from the interior. Also if you plan on getting this shoe, it stretches AT LEAST 1.5 sizes

Neutral Reviews:

Got these on SnC on a whim almost a year ago. For what the Royale is, they're great. For any trad route, or non-techy/non-super overhung sport route they'll crush.
Full leather with toebox lining allows conformity in the toes and perfect stretch everywhere else. The reinforced rand and stiffer midsole mean edging is easy and slopy footwork isn't going to make you throw these things away after a month of use. Tongue of the shoe is ultra comfy and breathable, probably more so than any other evolv shoe I've worn/seen.
I sized em down 1.5 from street and they stretched well after a couple days/week to be the perfect half day to all day shoe. Wearing them hour after hour only feels like someone threw a nice, comfortable, and supportive, semi-sensitive rubber sock on you.
There have been no durability issues with the rubber or any kind of peeling, etc. The eyelets of the leather material get a bit of wear from tightening the laces, but they won't break or tear on you due to some reinforcement stitching in the area.
I believe these are a nice, well thought out addition to any trad climber or a beginning sport climber.
Go for it!
