Exped Downmat 9 Sleeping Pad Reviews:

Sleeping Great

Feels and sleeps like a common vinyl blow up pad, but much warmer, and more durable. Also, much easier to inflate/deflate with the large holes. I liked the integral hand pump, which is convenient, and inflates in a short time. A big improvement in sleeping comfort over the relatively thin self-inflating pads that are tough on me as a side sleeper. Fits well in my Big Agnes bag even though it is a little shorter than recommended. No problems with leaks (yet), but I also purchased the Mat Cover Pro that protects it well, however, the cover isn't great for backpacking due to packed size.

Absolutely worth every penny!

I wish I had bought this pad first, instead of the several others I tried. I am a side sleeper with previous back surgeries and before this pad I could not sleep without a bed. Even putting two good quality pads together did not equal the comfort and warmth of the DownMat 9. The comfort and warmth are the real "pros", and the light weight and compactness when rolled up are extra bonuses. Inflating it is a breeze with the built in pump.

A trip without sleep is a ruined trip, and this pad is worth every penny and more.

Best on the Market

If I can't sleep in my own waterbed, this will do. Seriously, any terrain, any weather, this thing is awesome. As long as you have the room and can carry the weight, it's worth it. As I get older, my pack is getting lighter, but I'd rather leave something else behind and bring this; it's worth the weight. I do tend towards the minimalist approach, but without a good nights sleep, the rest of the trip could be rough.

Outstanding comfort in the field!

Before finding the ExPed 9 pad, I've been out when I have tossed and turned all night, and it's not fun...I am avid backpacker who has suffered from back injuries but I don't want to stop enjoying the great outdoors. This pad makes it possible to get a good nights sleep. I've done the research, and I know you can find lighter and less expensive, but I challenge you to find more comfort for sleeping in the field.

Warm and wonderful

I switched over to this Exped after years of Therm-a-rest use and there is no looking back. Amazing warmth, excellent weight, compact and super comfy to sleep on with 3" of padding! I did buy the accessory drybag to help with inflation. the Pump works great but is not as straight forward as blowing moisture filled breath directly into the pad.

Luxury in a Pad.

This pad packs super small/light. It's filled with down and when inflated provides the BEST warmth of any pad that I've ever slept on. The only problem is that it can take longer than I'd like to inflate because you use the bag as a pump. The pad is well worth the hassle.
