It's hard to function in the wilderness if you can't get a good night's sleep - and we've spent some very good nights atop Exped's DownMat series sleeping pads. Filled with 650-fill duck down for superior protection against cold ground (R-value: 4.1), Exped's pads offer up a plush 2" of thickness while packing down to a reasonable size of 5" x 10". They're not the world's lightest or smallest-packing sleeping pads, but the extra comfort can be worth every gram - and if you do happen to be a gram-counting thru-hiker, check out Exped's SynMat 7 UL.
Because down insulation doesn't like moisture - including the moisture in your breath - the DownMat Lite includes a highly packable and highly effective Mini Pump that allows you to pump up the pad with your hands in about two minutes.
The ultralight version of Exped's DownMat, the DownMat Lite 5 with Pump sports equally high R-values. Two flat valves, one each for inflation and deflation, keep you moving in camp or when it's time to hit the trail again. A layer of goose down filling reduces heat loss while internal baffles keep all that insulation in place. A laminate of ultralight polyester and airtight TPU film make up the tough but light fabric. High-frequency-welded seams tie it all together for added durability. The included pumpbag enables speedy inflation while preventing the condensed moisture in your breath from contacting the down fill.
You only trust a down-filled sleeping bag for cold weather camping, so it makes sense that you'd choose the Exped DownMat Lite Sleeping Pad with Pump to round out your sleep gear. The pad is stuffed with 650-fill duck down for exceptional warmth on cold nights, and features two large air-only cells on either side that prevent you from rolling off the pad.
The down-insulated Exped DownMat Lite 5 air pad with MiniPump is lightweight and compact, and it provides excellent comfort all year round.
Exped's new DownMat Lite 5 with Pump provides the outstanding warmth of down at a great price.

I bought two Exped DownMat Lite sleeping pads, one for me and one for my girlfriend. The first morning after using them, we could not believe how well we slept. This is the most comfortable mat I've ever had and they seem very durable. We've used this mat in warm humid nights in Kentucky to cold nights around Yellowstone and it's great in the cold and fine when it's warm. It packs up smaller than a water bottle and is very lite, it fits in a pack. All in all, great mat.
