Extrasport made the Osprey Life Jacket with a thinner lower-back section, so the jacket won't keep riding up as you concentrate on your cast. Seven pockets on this life jacket make it easy to access your gear when you need to switch lures or grab pliers. Extrasport gave the Osprey Life Jacket mesh shoulders and sides so you stay cool under the sun, and the RetroGlide system lets you adjust straps with a simple pull on the side webbing. On top of everything, or actually underneath it all, Extrasport's GlideFit construction makes the foam inserts mobile and form-fitting.

great vest

Rating:*****

if you're a kayak or canoe fisherman, this is the vest to have. awesome fit, lot's of mobility for casting and paddling. lot's of pockets on the front so you don't have to dig around the hatches for tackle. i can easily hold a day's worth of drop-shot rig tackle in this vest. it also comes with a whistle which isn't mentioned in the product description.

Great PFD for kayak touring

Rating:*****
I use this PFD for kayak touring, but I have not used it for fishing. The pockets are very convenient. The straps cinch it down well, and it is out of the way of the spray skirt and is very comfortable during the paddle stroke. I've swam in it, and it did not ride up. I think this PFD is great.

handy and looks good

Rating:*****

with all the pockets on this vest, it's a must if you fish from a canoe or kayak. The cut is such that you can still paddle comfortably, without noticing that you have on a life vest. Nice colour too (moss/black), much nicer shade than it appears on the site...

Great PFD

Rating:*****

This is my first "good" life vest and I love it. The fit is snug and it doesn't ride up while I'm sitting. The pockets are useful & well laid out, and it looks good. And a bonus whistle to boot!

Great Fit, small pockets

Rating:****
I found this to be a very comfortable PFD, but the six small pockets are too narrow and deep to be of much use to me.

Negative Reviews:

Too much stuff in the way, and no lower strap

Rating:**

I kayak fish constantly in ocean conditions in Northern California and at first I thought this was the ideal vest for me. After about a year of use I'm looking for something else. The number of pockets was a draw for me, but I'm realizing that I keep most of my tackle on the boat and the pockets go empty. Also, as I improve my skills and during self rescue practice I find that the pockets get in the way of efficiently getting back on board the boat. And finally, there are only two straps to tighten this vest and no strap along the bottom of the vest. When I am in the water the vest rides up without a lower strap to hold the vest below my rib cage.

This might be a good entry level purchase, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you like all the pockets and don't mind the little bit of extra effort required for self rescue, then I would recommend that you go with the Extrasport Striper instead. The Striper has the lower strap that will improve your flotation and comfort should you end up in the water in an emergency.

For me, I moved on to the Kokatat Bahia Tour. Pockets are big enough for my VHF radio, and are smooth enough not to get in the way during self rescue. Additionally, it has the needed lower strap.
