With multiple X-Games gold medals and a Freeride World Tour Championship beneath his belt, pro-skier Candide Thovex knows what he wants in a ski so it's no surprise that he helped develop the Faction Candide 1.0 Ski. Specifically designed for park and pipe and for whipping around on groomers and on-piste terrain, the 1.0 features an 82-millimeter waist and 5 millimeters of traditional camber underfoot. As a result, this ski loves to rally the park and pipe, hit rails, and spin with the same ease of shorter skis.
Designed with a SuperLite wood core, the 1.0 uses strips of Balsa vertically laminated together with flax fibers. This creates an incredibly light yet torsionally stiff core that provides all the feel of a full wood core. Skis made using this technology are around 20% lighter than their Faction poplar and ash-cored equivalents. All wood used in making of the 1.0 are also farmed from FSC-certified forests.
Faction utilizes a full sandwich construction in the 1.0 for a more traditional feel and to provide smooth flex properties. Two layers of fiberglass above and below the core, vibration-dampening materials, edges, ABS plastic sidewalls, and topsheets complete the ingredients. Its die-cut Ptex 4000 bases also ensures durability, longevity, and speed.
