Faction Candide 4.0 Skis -
Now in its second year, the Faction x Candide Thovex collaboration continues to push boundaries with its innovative use of new materials, technology and design. "I loved the award winning Royale, however I wanted to make some minor tweaks to the flex and lighten it up a bit so we changed the core to lightweight balsa / flax and refined the flex. The Candide 4.0 is unbelievably versatile considering it's width and the firmer flex makes it perform in chopped up snow, big mountain lines and pillows." - Candide Thovex. With 15 mm of rise over 300 mm in the tip and tail, this ski has got some serious rocker, making it ready for the deepest of the deep. Along with a super lightweight balsa / flax core and 122 mm waist, the Faction Candide 4.0 Skis are ready to bust crud, the deep stuff and big mountain lines.

  • Sidewall construction makes this ski highly durable and directs your energy to your edges for precise and powerful control

Weather and Wind:

  • 122mm waist pushes this ski into the fat-boy category, which means you get maximum, deep-snow flotation and stability

  • Poppy balsa wood core feels lightweight underfoot and benefits from the dampening and power offered by integrated flax fibers
  • Rocker-flat-rocker profile allows you to surf floaty turns in open powder fields, make fast direction changes in the trees, and utilize precise edge control when you're forced onto the groomers
  • Moderate, traditional sidecut is primarily designed for all-mountain skiing
  • Sintered P-Tex 4000 base offers an impressive balance of speed, wax retention, and durability
The crew over at Faction Skis believes that skis are tools of escape and expression. We're inclined to agree, as was Candide Thovex when he worked with Faction to create his pro model, the Candide 4.0 Ski. This big-mountain stick is as unique as Candide. On the outside, it's rocker-flat-rocker camber profile and fat waist provide flotation and agility, and on the inside, the balsa wood core combines with flax fibers to create a powerful pop, snappy return, and speed-chatter-impervious chassis. With the attention to detail paid to this balance of materials and shape, it would have been a shame to use simple cap construction on a ski like this, so Faction opted for the strength and precise edge control provided by sidewall fabrication. This is Candide's tool-of-the-trade, and with X-Games medals, legendary Utah gaps, a movie, and countless big-mountain achievements to his name, it's a safe bet that he created one crusher of a rockered ride.

Faction Candide 4.0 Skis Reviews:

Never before have I felt so good after riding a new ski for the first time. The Candide 4.0 has truly changed my skiing for the better. Every time I land I feel the new stiffness in the tail place me and my weight gently in the centre of the ski. Stable in all aspects of freeride skiing, the 4.0 has a perfectly designed and balanced concept in mind. Simplicity truly is the way to go. Subtle, and stylish the graphic is clean and is very warm towards the eyes. If the ski is jumping, hitting cliffs, flashing lines, streaking through pillows or tree it just does it, no questions asked, just think and the Faction 4.0 will be the guide.

Faction has done exactly what every company has been attempting to do the past few years. They have made a light weight, solid, big mountain touring ski. The 4.0 crushes every aspect if skiing whether it's jumping, pow skiing, or charging lines, this ski does it all. The Faction 4.0 is the future of backcountry big mountain skiing.

Faction found a way to make a light ski but stiff enough to ski hard on !
The perfect shape and the rocker allows me to ski forward in the deep snow and to stomp cliffs landing forward as well. They are so stable at hight speed and easy to maneuver in the forest.
