Federal .30-06 Springfield Rifle Ammunition Reviews:
Best round for my .30-06
I've been big game hunting for 42 years. For the first 20 I resisted 180 grn bullets because I thought they were too heavy for the ranges/trajectories I wanted to cover. In 1991, the gun guy at a local gun shop recommended Federal Premium, 180 grn Nosler Partitions for my elk hunt the following month with my Remington model 700 .30-06 When I went to the range to re-zero for the heavier bullets, I was amazed at the accuracy. My Remington 700 seemed made for this load, or vice versa. After dialing in the scope, I was shooting sub-one inch, 3-shot, groups at 100 yards and doing it consistently. Since that season, I've killed over 30 deer and 16 elk with that Remington and these loads, including some very large bulls. Some as far out as 625 yards. The Federal Premium, 180 grn Nosler Partitions have never let me down. They not only shoot accurately, they hold their weight, mushroom perfectly and penetrate better than anything else I've ever shot before or since.
