Works fine

I bought the 3 1/2 long, 2 1/4 oz, #6 shot. I tested these in a Remington 887 waterfowl edition. The choke i used was just a basic rem choke, no ports or anything fancy. (extra full) I also tried them in some more open chokes but found the tighter i went, the better the pattern was. Federal claims that these work best in open chokes, but that wasnt the case for me. Recoil was harsh and after 10 rounds of patterning i was bruised, but that was expected. I was able to get around 18 pellets in the critical area out to about 40 yards. At 50 it was down to 10 so i wouldnt want to go that far. But as long as you have 15+ in the head and neck the turkey will go down fine. The only reason i rated this 4 instead of 5 is because the of the choke tube issue as i said above. I also noticed the with the #6 shot the wad was still in perfectly good shape and i will be reloading it with buckshot for coyotes.( After turkey season in a few weeks)

EXCELLENT SHELLS!

I have used Federal Premium shotgun shells for 15 years. I always use 3 1/2" #5 or #6. I have taken MANY turkeys with these loads. My Mossberg 835 with extra full choke loves these loads. I have taken many turkeys over 40 yards, two over 60 yards and one at 71 yards. I don't normally shoot that far, but they were shots taken while hunting with a partner to double up on the hunt. Needless to say, we successfully doubled up on birds each time. I was confident enough in my gun and my ammunition to try.

Federal Mag-Shot Turkey Load 2oz

Federal Premium #6 shot has been my tukey load for many years. Now its the 3" 12gauge Mag-Shot FliteControl Wad 2oz load as Ive kept up with Federal's improvements. My Remington 11:87 produces a much better pattern with the 2 oz load than with the 1 7/8 oz load. Killed 3 turkeys in 2012, one at 51 steps with several shot in in its neck, plus broken wing and leg. Read label carefully to distinguish between 2 oz and 1 7/8 oz loads.
