Excellent Rod

I wanted to wait to review this rod until I actually had considerable time to use it. I purchased the 6'9" back in May and it has been great. I find it to be incredibly sensitive and has plenty of backbone to haul in bigger fish without any worries. Last week I was able to reel in a 41" northern without any problems or signs that the rod would fail. In my eyes it's a great rod for the price. It feels really nice in my hands and has a long enough butt to get some added leverage to set the hook.

Nice rod

Have had several fenwick rods and this one does not disappoint. Sensitive and strong with lots of backbone to haul in those big smallmouth. Use these rods with 6lb line and mostly jigging small 1/16 oz flies. My only suggestion is if you like a lighter action rod is to go with the medium light. Medium is just a touch too heavy. I have both and am pleased with both actions. I just like the lighter rod better.

Great Rod, Great price

I fish the river for Smallmouth all the time and bought this rod to do just that. So far after about 6 trips on the river the rod has performed great. Very sensitive and tough so far. I am hard on my gear and this rod has held up. I am very pleased.

Negative Reviews:

On second fish and third cast this rod broke

Fishing Lake Erie on a private charter. Looking forward to trying out this new rod with a reel spooled with Power Pro 6lb braid. On my third cast while bringing in my second walleye ( which was 15" and less than a pound in weight) the rod snapped between the 3rd and 4th eyes. What makes it disappointing is that the walleye was hardly even giving a fight. Fish saw the boat and snap!!! Drag was set properly with a quality spinning reel. I do own a Elite Tech Walleye Rod which does seem to be better quality.
So its possible the Smallmouth Bass Elite Tech rod I received may have just been defective.
