I would recomend this reel to anyone

I use this reel for freshwater only. Its great for stream fishing, but not quite as good for lake fishing as far as casting distance goes. Due to the fact that its spool diameter is average in size and length. I,m sure other models are avaiable for this. This reel casts and reels in smooth with no tangles. I,ve caught some 16& 18 inch trout with this and the drag system worked like a charm. Why anyone would want to pay 2or300 hundred dollars for a comparable reel I don,t know. The only reason I didn,t give it 5 stars is because I only used for 1 season and am waiting to see how it,s durability holds up.

Solid Performer, casts great, no parts

I have the smaller version of this reel, the Ravenna 10, and it's a great reel. It has very smooth feel, a large spool for efficient casting, and looks solid.

In spite of that, know in advance that if you are an angler who likes to keep spare spools around with different line types or want to be able to get spare parts, then do NOT purchase this otherwise great reel. I called Dick's to find that they do not supply parts and I can find no "field and stream" manufacturer website and the reel is not affiliated with the magazine or network of the same name.

Great reel for the price

Got this for my wife, reel is smooth drag sounds and feels nice. Only thing it has a little bit of weight. But this reel is great and the price is wonderful

Excellent casting reel

I use this reel with a 4.5 foot ugly stick and can seemingly cast out a mile. Nice quiet easy retrieve. Perfect little set up for large ponds and small lakes.

OK REAL

Line thends to come off real every now and then could be me ,tends to twist up some but a good little real real for someone just getting started ,I'll give mine to my girlfreind she's just starting and keep my baitcasters going and get a little higher grade spining reel for pitchin wacky rigs in the weeds
