Fishpond Road Trip Fly-Tying Bag Reviews:

Good product, but a couple of warnings

I really like this bag for travel, or even for organizing my stuff for routine tying. It's amazing how many snippets of various materials you can get in it, and how many pouches and pockets there are to keep it all in order. But a couple of warnings. First, the end-caps on the tubes for thread spools are brittle, break easily, and are a bit difficult to get out if pushed in all the way. So I've discarded them and just use a ziplock freezer bag. I can get more in it, anyway. Second, the box intended to hold hooks does not keep the hooks separated. So if you don't want to sort hooks all the time, keep your hooks in the little bags they come in, and use the pockets instead. The box takes up too much room, anyway. Other than those two things, I really like the bag, which is well-made and thought-out.

great product for fly tiers

I was looking for a travel bag to carry vice and materials on fishing trips and to local Project Healing
Waters fly tying events. This travel bag absolutely exceeded my expectations! I thought it was a little pricey when I ordered it, but now considered it a great value. It is fish pond, so it is a quality product made of good material and strong zippers. Inside is a multitude of zippered pockets, thread holder, material folders and a place for tools. Sections may be removed from the case, i.e., the section with tools, the spool holders, material folders, etc. If you are looking for a great travel bag for fly tying materials and vice, this is a great choice!

Worth the price

This is one very well thought out piece of gear. Happily takes my Peak rotary with pedestal and accessories in the padded vise pouch. Tubes store a good number of thread and wire spools. Four zippered pouches take larger materials and tools. A Plano-style box with resizable compartments holds other odds and ends. The bag itself expands nicely to hold it all when it's stuffed. Very durable construction and quality materials throughout. I thought it a bit on the expensive side but wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. Fishpond really nailed this one.
