Five Ten Danny MacAskill Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

The reinforced heel and toe cup on these shoes have literally saved me from breaking toes or bones in my feet multiple times. Whether loose rocks are blowing up underneath you and banging on your bottom bracket or your trails have a lot of tree stumps looking to take off your toes, these are the only way to go. They are the strongest shoes I have ever owned, but they may also be the heaviest. If you don't require a lot of protection I wouldn't recommend the Danny's, due to their weight and breathability. These are a warm shoe to be wearing in TX but protection comes before comfort, especially when it comes to my feet. Lots of style on these shoes; they look even better in person. Machine washable but they take a while to dry (again due to their weight). I got them on deal and wish I would have grabbed 2 pairs! Comfortable protection that will last, no questions asked.

These are my favorite platform shoes. Fit much like the Freeriders, but have the best foot bed ever! I have even used the foot bed in my other MTB shoes.
Very sticky and true to size.
Ride well and wear well off the trail.

Bought for my downhill/free riding MTB 13yo. He loves the Danny MacAskill theme. More importantly they stick like glue to the pedals-or so he says. 5-10 are the ultimate flat pedal bike shoe.

Great grip. Feels like my feet are glued to the pedals. I can go over any terrain without my feet coming off the pedals. It's a better option than clip in.

Negative Reviews:

As a fan of Danny Macaskill, I noticed his shoes in the Imaginate YouTube video. I searched for them online, and found they were made by Five Ten, and were his pro model shoe. Although royally expensive, I purchased a pair. At first glance out of the box, they look very well made. Some online reviews claim the Stealth rubber on the bottom can last around 2 years....although I can't verify that. What I didn't like was they felt too wide around the toe box, although they have tons of toe room (up and down movement). The thing that is making me send these shoes back, is the insole. When removed, it looks awesome....tons of gel cushioning in the back, some in the front area. The problem for me in the arch support. The insole has this weird bump in it. Maybe has some benefit when riding bmx, I don't know....but for walking, it was annoying. Insoles can be changed out...the arch is in the insole in this shoe, and not the actual shoe...however, for the price, I don't really want to have to spend more on insoles and longer shoelaces. Overall, I think having Macaskill's name on this shoe is what sells it. I wanted them to work, but they just didn't. I give a five-star for looks and the fact Five Ten was smart to add Macaskill's name for marketing purposes. I give a one-star for price and comfort.
