Also a nice microphone stand

I am not a pro photographer but I am a pro Audio Engineer and I use this stand to hold microphones. This stand gets the mics way up high where you need them to record large groups. Very study with all metal section clamps, I have no reservation hanging very expensive mics on this stand. I don't know why this stand would not work as well for lighting equipment.

The mounting stud actually is reversible with a 1/4-20 screw on one end and a 3/8-16 screw on the other. This stud can be mounted either vertically or horizontally.

This light stand is great. No beginner photographer should be without at least one. I listed tall as a con to get your attention. At it's smallest size, it is 3' 11", not the most compact. However, it is 12' feet tall when fully extended. The only reason 3' 11" is an issue, is because, I have yet to find a bag that it fits in. The air cusion will catch you off gaurd and shoot up, without a flash attached. This is one of my better finds on Adorama.

Great Bang for the Buck

Wasn't expecting this good of quality for the dollar! Well built, solid. Very user friendly. Looking forward to my other stands biting the bullet, so I can order more of these. You won't be disappointed! Holds a monolight with large umbrella just fine.
