Better than I expected

I've been a pro for a few years and I've done a lot of location portrait work and rented a studio when I needed it. I finally set up a home studio and bought this background holder. I can't say enough good things about it, I guess flashpoint is the adorama brand because it has their website on the bag, I'm going to buy a lot more Adorama products after this one !!
-The stands are sturdy as could be, not to heavy, and go at least 10-feet up. Besides holding a background, they are a great fit for my dyna-lites and my swivel holder for my Nikon flashes. I could see bringing these on location if I want to throw an SB900 10-ft up in the air.
I don't think I'll ever use the flimsy stands that my dynalites came with again.
The bag is great too ! It has this faux-leather interior and pockets for each piece of the bar and stands. It has a zipper and clips to make sure the weight isn't solely on the zipper.

I love this background !!

Better than Expected

I have had this product now for about a month and so far I am very pleased with it. Making this purchase, I looked for something on the cheaper side just to start out. When my package arrived I was more than impressed with what I recieved. Even my husband said he would expect something more flimsy for the price I paid. Talk about bang for your buck. This stand is very sturdy, very easy to put together. One person can handle it. I do not have my own studio so I travel with it. The carry case makes it perfect for this. The variations on size are wonderful. My three year old has played around it and bumped into it pretty good one day and it did not fall or move at all.

GREAT PRODUCT.

ACTUALLY THIS WAS A GIFT TO MYSELF! A RESEARCHED IT VERY THOROUGHLY AND IT WAS THE BEST BANG FOR MY BUCK. A READ A REVIEW ABOUT "SAG" WHEN FULLY EXTENDED BUT, MY GOODNESS, IT'S A HALF INCH SAG FULLY EXTENDED AT 10 FT. ONE OF MY FRIENDS HAS ALREADY ORDERED ONE, THE OTHER IS SAVING UP FOR ONE. I LOVE THE CASE AND THE WAY THE STANDS AND RODS ALL FIT IN NEATLY, VERY STURDY. THE 10X20 BACKGROUND I BOUGHT FOR IT GOES RIGHT IN HAND WITH IT. GREAT BUY BECAUSE THE BACKGROUND WAS ON SALE AT ADORAMA, WHERE ELSE?

Beginner...I like the stand.

I am a beginner, and wanted to take studio-like photos of my kids instead of going to [@]. I am short, and not very strong, so I needed something that I could manage putting up and adjusting myself. I am able to set it up and change either a muslin or a paper background myself without issue. I am having great success with the system, nice quality for the price, and it meets my needs. I am sure there are 'better quality' and more expensive systems, but I wouldn't replace this one with a more expensive one. Very happy!

SEEMS TO DO THE JOB

I use this for studio and on site portraits. This background stand is very portable and I love the case. This stands are made very well and should hold up to a lot of use. The top cross bar seems to be a little week once it's fully extented to the max. I always use Adorama's Black & Orange 10 lb sand bags on all my stands just to be safe. I will buy a second one soon so I will not have to take down my studio stand for each on site shooting.

Price to Quality is right on!

This product is a great deal. Its not equal to the professional lines out there but for the price the quality, strength and durability is perfect for most uses. It is very sturdy and can be used at the 12' or at 9' wide by dropping one of the cross bars out. I like the case it comes in, its well built and is large enough to fit all of this with room to spare.

Works for me!

This setup is very useful.
Easy to assemble, flexible height and width.
Hauling it around is a snap, thanks to the provided canvas carrying case with a strap that allows you to fling it over your shoulder (in case you only have two hands!).
I use it mostly with king size bedsheets in various colors, held up by small spring clamps available at any hardware store. Works very well. Super happy with it.

Don't judge a book by its cover" "

I was very amazed of the quility and build of this backdrop stand. I needed somthing that i can take on location and in my house for a fast stuido set up . Love the top pole because it is mounted to the top two stands with screws for security. very easy to set up and take down. Hey for this price you cant go wrong for what your getting.

So far, So GOOD!!!

Use the background support a few times for home photo shoots. Easy enough to set up and take down. First time using a real support (made one out of PVC prior) so it is a welcome addition. It is definitely not light, but not a big concern for our use.

Very good for value and would recommend to the enthusiast or simi-pro.

Good quaity

Nothing really exciting, the product does its job well. Not "pro" quality but it is definitely still a good quality product. Easy to transport and the storage bag is actually quite nice. Only time will tell if it will stand up to heavy travel and use. This product is much easier to take to location shoots than the much heavier studio gear.

Negative Reviews:

Do not be even some what rough with this

Right off the bat after unboxing this backdrop stand, the locking clips for the bag both broke. I pushed them in to unlock them and "Snap". I thought ok no prob. I can get over this seeings how the zippers still work. Second, the bottom lock on one stand broke while putting them back in storage. maybe I am being to rough on them? I don't know but I feel if some of these part were made of metal and not plastic then that might solve some issues. If you plan on buying this, just be gentil with the very weak construction.

Great product, but arrived busted.

I'm very happy about the product itself, but when it arrived at my studio the day before a big shoot I noticed while unpacking it that the middle knuckle on one of the stands was not only busted off, but the broken part was wrapped, taped and included in the stand case without any explanation. I want to return it in exchange for an un-broken stand, but I've been so busy with studio work lately that I can't spare not having it. I currently have to jury-rig it with a super clamp...

Neutral Reviews:

Nice but a little flimsy

I bought this background support system based on a combination of the price and the numerous reviews that claimed it's sturdiness. As far as the price goes, how can you complain about [$] . The sturdiness is another issue entirely. The stands seem perfectly fine and are at least what was expected. The crossbar is very light weight (nice for carrying) but has a little extra room in the joints which makes it go together really easy but also creates about a half inch sag in the middle of the bar when it is fully assembled. I wanted a good deal but, more importantly, I wanted a sturdy durable product as well. Hopefully it will do well for me but I suspect I will be replacing the bar very soon. Bottom line, nice set but I wouldn't have ought it if I had first seen the crossbar in person.

Does the job

This background stand was fairly inexpensive and gets the job done. My only complaint is that the crossbar I received was already slightly broken - the plastic rings that are supposed to sit inside of the metal pole slide around whilly-nilly. But, it still functions.
msav at Adorama on 05/05/2012

it works, but you get what you pay for..

easy to put up, but it has plastic clips that slide up and down against the middle pole, and they broke and came off 1st time i used it
David at Adorama on 01/01/2012

Works ok

This works fine but I made another one out of PVC that works better for me.
