Smaller, yet every bit as strong as the original Advantage rod holder, the Jr. is perfect for panfish, walleye and salmon. Holds rods up to 1-1/4" diameter. Available: Pedestal Mount (not shown), Side Mount.
These holders have some features that are really great for die hard trollers. You can lock them into a closed position so your rods will not fly out as you head down the lake at warp speed in insane wave and wind conditions that no one would even go out in. They hold both spin and cast but cast is better. They have a front and back for installation so make sure you know which side is the back each time or your rod could end up in the lake. The release rod button makes this easy to remember. The pedestal locks firmly into the base with a button - but it takes some wearing in before it gets easy to remove. The holders work better with a coat of silicone spray. I troll for hybrid stripers with these and the hits are vicious. These holders do the job. The rods are easier to remove from the holder on hard and quick fish runs than any I have used - just a quick jerk straight up and you have the rod free. You don't have to fight it out of the end of the tube when your rod is bent double with a big striper. The only caveat is to make sure you have the pedestal firmly locked in the base. If you are a die hard troller who fishes alone with more than one rod - you will love the flexibility of fishing with these. It just takes some time getting used to how they work and feel on the water.
I give these Folbe Jr's a glowing recommendation. In fact, I've found all the Folbe products to be top-shelf. We use them trolling for salmon, and have always been happy with the way even beginners can extract the rod from the rod holder and engage the fish. This may sound like an easy task, but for someone inexperienced at it, it is not, especially if a big king has yanked the rod down into the water. I'm glad to see Cabela's handling the Folbe line.
I have had the Folbe Advantage rod holders for a number of years now. Since I have always found the Folbe products to be an excellent buy I decided to try the Folbe Jr. I was NOT disappointed! The Folbe Jr definately lives up to the Folbe reputation for being an excellent product at an excellent price. I highly recommend both the Folbe Advantage and the Folbe Jr!
I couldn't be happier having these in my boat! The Jr. is ideal for salmon trolling here in the Pacific Northwest. The smaller diameter is great due to the fact that when in chop or having to make any change of direction while trolling the rods don't jump around too much. Extremely easy to operate and extremely durable. Absolutely change what you got...get these!!!
