When you're riding with 180mm of plush Fox travel, you're going to have a good time—particularly if it's aboard the Float 36 RC2 FIT Fork. About a pound lighter than its coil sprung counterparts, the air spring equipped, RC2 damped Float 36 offers all the features needed to get you down the most aggressive, big-mountain lines with the least drama.
Equipped with the FIT RC2 damper, a cartridge unit that uses an expandable bladder to seal suspension oil from air, it provides consistent action during heavy-duty use. The damper has both low- and high-speed compression tuning. This means you can dial the fork to offer a bob-reducing, pedal-friendly platform with the low-speed adjustment. Or back it off for plusher, small-bump compliant ride. The high-speed adjustment lets you find your preference for large hit resistance. This versatility lets you set the Talas RC2 for optimum trail manners, whether you've got a monster climb or want to blaze the descent.
Not only does the air spring reduce weight, it also has a unique curve. It's tuned to provide a plush ride at the top of the stroke with a progressive ramp-up to avoid bottoming at the end. The air spring is also simple to reduce travel internally, by adding spacers under the air piston, if you'd like to customize your front end's ride height or headtube angle.
The Fox 36 Float 180 FIT RC2 Fork's lower legs and crown are powder coated in black. It has a 1-1/8 to 1.5in tapered steerer tube and post mount disc brakes. The beefy 36mm chassis is stiff and strong, and made even better by the inclusion of a 20QR thru-axle system.
The Fox Van 180 is the perfect fork for powering downhill. With 180mm (7.1") of travel, you can mow over practically anything in your way.
This version of the Van is a part of the Factory series. Therefore, the stanchions are Kashima coated. The Kashima coating is a hard anodizing process that fills in any micro pores in the material creating a smoother surface, in comparison to a hard anodization on prior versions. Its distinctive gold color is backed by its high performance attributes including extreme durability as well as an extremely smooth feel. The whole purpose and value of the Kashima coating is its friction reduction properties.
The Van can quickly and easily be adjusted to the course. Easily adjust the rebound, low- speed compression, high- speed compression, and the spring preload.
The FIT RC2 damper employs a bladder system that keeps the oil and air from mixing to provide optimal performance in all riding extremes. Since the FIT cartridge uses much less oil, the weight of the fork is significantly less than one with an open bath style. The lighter damper is also inverted in the fork which reduces unsprung weight.
