Modified version of Firestorm

This is a great call for the price. It is built and backed by FoxPro and should you have any questions, they are US based fast on the phone to answer any simple questions you have. The 35 sounds are a good variety (you can download free sounds from FoxPro). There are also purchase sound options too. The call holds 35 sounds at a time so if you get more sounds you need to remove and save before adding new ones. It takes a while to learn the how to do it, but it's not hard. Personally, I don't want to scroll through 200 sounds - 35 is good for me. Read all the instructions. The most important thing is that you don't point the remote at the unit like you would a TV remote - you hold it vertical which doesn't seem right but it DOES work. The user manual is copied from another FoxPro model and not all the features are the same. Yes, they are aware and will modify the instructions later. There is no tripod adapter on the bottom of this call. It is a feature of some (but not all) FoxPro calls. This call does not have the FoxBang feature, so if that is important to you, consider buying a more expensive call. The remote takes a while to learn and the change is sometimes not immediate - it can take a second or two. Battery issues. It's not the call, its the cold. Regular alkaline batteries are poor performers in cold weather. This can affect how long it takes the remote to signal the call and the call speaker sound. Eight AA batteries in the call and one 9V in the remote. It will take rechargeable NiMH as an alternative. Carry extra batteries and keep them in an inside pocket otherwise they won't perform either. Compared to other entry level calls, this one has more features for the price. I don't think I could manage the call and be the shooter, it helps when there are two people. We trade off - shooter does the mouth call and spotter gets the e-call & remote management. Somehow I got the raw end of that deal as I'm better with the remote. Do your research, decide on what features are important and your price range. If you are technically challenged give yourself some time to learn this before going out on a real hunt. I rated 4 stars instead of 5 because it is somewhat of a challenge to learn and I'm pretty good at electronic stuff. The remote on the higher models has even more functions. I also like being able to call a US 800 number and get someone knowledgeable and helpful.

Don't waiste your money!

I got it home and it didn't work. I replaced the batteries and it plays NO sounds at all. Everything powers on but nothing happens when you send the sound. When you try to troubleshoot it, the instructions are to check that the SD card is installed. It doesn;t have an SD card. I sent it back and requested my money back. Don't waist your money or time. I wouldn't even give it one star, but thats the lowest score possible.

Could not get unit to work more than 10 ft away. Not sure if it's the remote or what. I'm talking with ideal conditions this just wouldn't work. I took it back and got an actual FoxPro and have had zero issues. Remote works out to 100 yds.

Not Cabelas Quality

Terrible quality. Returned for refund. Remote is cheap. When plugging USB unit the motherboard flexes. Not even close to water tight. Feels like a cheap unit that would be easy to ruin... Lots of money for high risk product.
