Frye Dakota Crepe Chukka Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

These are stiff at first but wear these alternately with other shoes. I love them they are very sturdy, a bit heavier than my other shoes. I plan on buying another pair. I have a high arch, but these have no arch support, but they work for me because they are so stiff. Minor crepe peeling away at the toe 1/8", just glue it. I live in the Pacific Northwest a bit wet here so I do recommend treating the suede with spray water repellant before venturing out in wet weather.

Actually I really like this shoe. It's comfortable, rugged, and I like the weight. But I have the same problem with the sole. Has peeled off twice shortly after wearing them initially and then after repair. Just got them back, and I am nervous it will reoccur. The shoes were sent back in a Mr Espresso box with handwriting so I don't know who is doing the repairs.

Negative Reviews:

I am currently sending back my 3rd pair of these shoes within a month's time. I bought these for myself for Christmas. And the rubber sole started peeling off after a week of use. I exchanged them for a new pair and the 2nd pair I got did the same thing. I currently am wearing my 3rd pair and they are starting to do the same thing again. These are great shoes very comfortable and stylish but the rubber soles start to peel and separate after about 2 weeks of use. I feel for the money that this is unacceptable. I am currently looking to exchange my last (3rd) pair and am going to start to look for a similar shoe made by a different company.

The dude in the review before me is right - the Crepe soles peel around the edges, mostly toe and heel. I super glued and clamped the spots that came apart and they seem fine now. But for a shoe costing this much and a Frye would think they would have it together, that's why we buy Frye, isn't it peeps? The crappy crepey's are dinging the Frye name...just saying.

I have returned three pairs of these for peeling at the toes. These should not be sold considering the recurring issue other reviewers have shared. And the glue does not hold. But then why should one find themselves gluing at this price?
