Frye Jayden Cross Engineer Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

For reference, I am 5'1" with narrow feet and bird like ankle/calves. The Fryes Jayden Cross Engineers were absolutely perfect in: color, quality, simple/classic style with a little edge and ankle/calf opening (I always have issues with boots looking too wide or bulky). The 6½ was snug when I first tried them on so for those with meatier feet, beware or size up if you plan on using thicker socks with these. No worries though, you can tell that they would stretch out nicely after a few wears. The only reason why I had to return them is because they were so narrow from top to bottom towards the tip of the toes that when I wore them, the boot protruded about an inch longer than my actual foot. That made me look like a hobbit with boat size feet. I was so bummed. My friend who is 5'9" tried them on and they looked great on her! It is all about proportion, ladies. I am going to try my luck on Frye's Veronica short/shorties because the toe bed is a tad bit more on the round side. I wish that Frye would combine Jayden Cross Engineer style with Veronica Shortie toe shape. That would be perfection!

I love these boots! I get compliments all the time. They look great with skinny jeans. I have skinny calves and ankles, and the shaft is slim enough that it doesn't look sloppy. They slipped in the heel at first, but after putting in a toeless insole to raise my short instep, they fit great. The more I wear them, the more comfortable they are. I haven't had any problems with the sole being slippery.

LOVE these. I got them in the whiskey and they are a beautiful, burnished red/brown color with black shading. The shaft is slightly adjustable with the buckle, but when it is too loose you can see the Frye tag inside the boot. But that is my only complaint. Beautiful boots, tough looking but still urban, very sharp with skinny jeans, easy to wear with a skirt. They hit just below mid calf on me.

Neutral Reviews:

Although the boot was cute, it was more masculine than feminine. The quality was good, but the leather was thick and heavy and the soles had no traction. I don t understand how a company could make a boot with having some traction; I would prefer to keep both my feet firmly on the ground and not slip and slide on slick surfaces. Unfortunately I am returning this boot, it certainly was not worth the price.
