I waited a full year to place my review of these boots. Let me start by saying: buy them. These boots were a major investment for me but they're worth it. I wore these boots every almost every day last winter (my coworkers started calling me Boots...like the monkey from Dora the Explorer) so I can list the positives and the negatives that I encountered. Negatives: 1) They squeaked. It wasn't super noticeable (trust me, I asked people) but in my right boot there was a light squeak. I walk all day at work so it was clearly just from my moisture building up. I even got in contact with Zappos about it and (being the amazing customer service company they are) they even offered to exchange the boots but I decided to just try a few anti-moisture techniques and they worked. 2) The original heels need a little care. In the first 5 months of having the boots I had to have the back heel replaced twice since it's separated into two pieces and the piece closer to the toe kept coming off. I eventually went to my new shoe repairman this year, explained the problem, and he just took off the original two-part back sole and put on a thicker one-part sole. I imagine every two years or so I will need to have them redone, so be prepared for the upkeep of any boots. Positives: 1) You will receive endless compliments, people will constantly ask you where you got your boots from and you will have the perfect wardrobe essential. 2) These boots are so easy to dress up or down. I got them in the Dark brown Smooth Full Grain and it's the perfect level of darkness so that they go with everything. Seriously. Everything. 3) The quality of the leather is amazing and will last a very long time. 4) The plate in the back is not only cute but also helps you remove the boots without damaging the leather when you're in a hurry.

An important note regarding the Fawn color--I ordered them based on the photo that a department store shows on their website, and they are NOT almost black as this Zappos pic shows. Instead, they are the most beautiful neutral dark taupe with a few blackish accents, not one color as shown; in other words, perfect with black and yet brown enough to be your new brown boots. I also ordered the old standby tan and it's gorgeous as well!! I'm a real cowgirl with horses so I'm used to slip-on boots; these are a little harder to pull on, leather a bit stiff but will soften up, and boy are they really comfortable with padded insoles. Can dress up or down; the leather quality is fabulous. I recommend them highly--true to size, smallish calves (I'm 5'9" and 130 lbs) so they don't look sloppy. Just outrageously cool!

I'm absolutely giddy! I love these boots! They fit like they were custom made for me. My first pair of Frye Cavalry Boots - which I've had for about 8 years, are some of my favorites and very true to size. I wore (pre-daughter) a consistent 8 1/2M. Now, though I can still wear my old shoes, 9's feel better, so I ordered these in a 9. They are great! The shaft is long, but stops just at the bend of my knee so they are comfortable (I'm 5'3") and fit just right over my calves with leggings or jeggings. Getting them off is sort of funny - would be nice to have a pal or partner to help pull them off. The quality is beautiful. They arrived today and I'm wearing them out to lunch.

Amazing boots! My legs are skinny, and my feet are flat and narrow so I have trouble finding boots that don't look too big on my legs. These boots are perfect! They are narrow and slim fitting, which is great for me. I can see how others say they can't get their foot into them, but they fit me perfectly. And I get compliments every time I wear them! Thank you Frye and Zappos!

The information on this boot is incorrect. It lists the shaft circumference to be 13 inches on a size 8 boot. I ordered a size 9 boot and the shaft circumference was actually about 16 inches. Beautiful boot, but too wide on the shaft for me. Returning :(
