I have been on a boot search. I have tried on the Melissa button, the Steffi, the Lindsey riding, the Jane pull on and the harness. I have a true size 11 foot and a 14 7/8" calf at its widest. I am 5'9. I loved the look of the Melissa button but for what I was looking for it was to plain It was a beautiful boot but I was looking for something a little more rugged. I also felt that it made my foot look so long. My foot is long as it is but this boot seemed to extend it, plus the calf was to loose on me. The Lindsey was the rugged look I wanted but it also had too much toe with nothing to break it up. Gorgeous boot as well but too western for me the calves were great though. The harness was a little shorter and fit like a second skin, I liked the squarer toe, it just wasn't my style. The Jane pull on is a gorgeous western inspired boot, I got it in redwood and wore them for a day at an amusement park right out of the box. Awesome thick leather and rich color. I read a review that they were hard to get on and I found this true. I put my socks on and then two grocery bags and they slipped right on, then I tore the grocery bag out and awesomeness followed. I had to do this the first 5 times I wore them and now they slip right on. I am still careful not to tear the heel. These boots have pulls but , especially at first I pulled on the lip. They have a longer toe but the fact that they are curved shortens their look. The Steffi is just plain adorable and I love them. They look good with dresses or jeans. They make my foot look small. They are a little looser on my calf but sturdy so there is no slouch. The zipper catches occasionally so I just carefully zip them up. On to the Melissa Riding Lace in burnt red have found my go too boot! Do not be afraid of the burnt red color. I was worried about the red and when it arrived realized the it is more like an oxblood color. I got these on sale and am so glad I took a chance. They go with everything, black, brown, red etc. They are true to size. The lower part is lined and the uppers are a soft malleable leather. I can see where the bench man actually "marked" the hide with his signature and I love that. The inner zippers are so helpful and I love the slanted cut of the upper cuff. These are like field boots on steroids. They are perfect on my calves not too baggy not too tight and they are just stiff enough not to slouch. I wear them with boot socks and skinny jeans or leggings. These are eye catching and I believe will only get better with time. I really wanted the Melissa Tall lace but they were far beyond my price range. I am very happy with these. I got all of my boots on discount and so for the amount of one full price pair I got 3 incredibly gorgeous and incredibly different pairs of Frye boots. Thanks Zappos!

I am a Frye fanatic. I was browsing the boot section on Zappos and came across these unbelievable boots. I had to have them. They are gorgeous. I read some of the other reviews, and the toe is a little tight, but so worth the break-in. I have worn them with skinny jeans and leggings. I have gotten so many compliments on them already. And thanks, Zappos, for your next day shipping!

These boots are beautiful and comfortable, no break-in required. Ordered my regular size but thought I might need a half size larger. Zappos sent the larger size as soon as I called and I received them the next day so I could try both sizes on side by side. I simply returned the smaller one for a super easy exchange process. Love these boots.

Love Frye's interpretation of field boots. These are fabulous, I got them in the red, a muted dark red with dark grey glazing. Comfortable, true to size though a little wide both in the bed and the calf. Beautiful quality and style.

Neutral Reviews:

I got these in size 6 Camel soft vintage. I'm 5'2 with slim calves and narrow feet. The leather is soft and the color beautiful. However, the shafts gapped and with the angled cut at the top, they stuck out on the sides. Plus, I found I didn't like the laces as much as I thought I would. They are really long and got in the way. So, with the laces, the large shaft, the zipper and all the seams on this boot, it was just too busy-looking for me. Sent them back.
