Great All-Purpose Boat!

Rating:****
For a recreational boat this thing can do a lot.
Ive taken it on lakes, to the beach, and a couple of whitewater runs. (Spray skirt highly recommended, open cockpit = swamped boat). I saw a few cases of "better" boats running as submarines in the rain swollen Housatonic River.
I was looking for a boat that could paddle well, fish well, and handle some white water.
It's not as fast as a 'glass or Kevlar boat, and not as nimble as some of those little squirt boats, but I'm liking the fact that I can do fairly well in all types of "terrain" with just one boat. It's not elegant, graceful or sexy, but it's a lot of fun everywhere.
It's nice to see that the company is now offering colors as well. I've got the "old school" Moss Green, pretty nice - no shine; hides well when you need to go ashore for a "nature walk".
It's a little heavy, sure... But some of the larger boats weigh 60 pounds and that might be a bit cumbersome to carry any significant distance, especially by yourself.
I've modded it with anchor trolleys fore and aft, and I will be installing a rod holder in front of the cockpit, because the rear mounts can be awkward to reach for, but at least they hold spare rods (with a bungee).
The "watertight" bulkhead may need some shoring up and a bit of extra sealant, but that is fairly minor and may not happen to someone who does not carry a lot of gear.

Great Kayak for the Price

Rating:****
I purchased this kayak [...] when it was on sale. I got the orange colored one instead of the green one. I took it on an 8 mile trip down the Sipsey River in the Bankhead National Forest in Alabama. It was very stable and tracking was good. It is a little heavy but I didn't have much trouble lifting it by myself. It's best if two people carry it though. The seat was a little uncomfortable, but no more so than most of the other kayaks I've seen. The foam bulkhead behind the seat came loose when I was wiping the water out of the rear storage compartment. The sealant that was used didn't adhere to the plastic very well. I pushed the foam bulkhead back in place. I'm not sure I'm going to worry about fixing it.Overall I'm very pleased with the Kayak.

Great for fishing

Rating:****
I had another kayak that developed a leak. I had been looking at this kayak for a while. They put it on sale and I bought it. I have had it on the Ohio river when both waves from a barge and speedboats came by. The waves never bothered this boat at all. Very stable. I use it for fishing or just to paddle and site seeing. The seat could use more padding and a better back rest but overhaul it is a great kayak for the price. I am 61 and 235 pounds and enjoy the heck out of it. Very good exercise for us seniors.

Great Buy

Rating:****
I did quite a bit of research on kayaks before settling on this one. The July 4th sale Dick's had also helped my final decision. Got it on sale for [$]. I am brand new to kayaking. The design of the boat makes it track straight and gives it great stability. A lot of people complain about the seat. It might not be the most comfortable on your back but when you're wearing a vest you'll most likely not notice. Over all I was impressed with the way it handled and the speed I could get in open water.

Great Kayak

Rating:*****
Great Kayak.
I've seen more costly kayaks smashed to bits.
But this is tough.I've also exceeded the weight
limit and found that it had very little effect.
It hardly got bogged down.I carried everything I own for camping.Tent, cookware,
sleeping bag,gun,food,lantern,and many extras,
down river and camping twice along the way.
No problem.Down moderate rapids, but it had no visible signs of damage on inspection.
Lots of storage,tough,good tracking,and very stable.The seat could've been a bit uncomfortable
without a vest, but then if you're on a river, you have one.Looking to buy the tandom version as well.

Great Kayak for the Money!

Rating:****
I use this kayak for general recreation. It is great. The only con to it is that there is no way for the water to penetrate the rear bulkhead and reach the drainage plug in the rear of the boat. Easily remedied with a small hole in the bulkhead but just something to consider. Only other con is that the place where you rest your knees could use a little extra padding. All in all, it is a great kayak.

All around winner

Rating:*****
I've taken this kayak on a eight mile run.
The trip carried me down the Kayaderosseras Creek
,and into and accross Saratoga lake in NY.
It was a very mild ride to the lake, then the lake was filled with fairly decent waves. No problem as the 126 was incredibly stable.
Nice.It is capable of storing all my camping gear for longer trips as well,as it has loads of storage. Now I want to get on every body of water.

Great buy!

Rating:*****
I use this for fishing and it's perfect. Great buy. It's very stable compared to the more v-shaped bottom kayaks yet is still smooth to paddle through the water. Glides true and straight when paddling. Does not turn as quickly as the v-shaped hulls but like i said i use it for fishing. Also great for drifting rivers.

Negative Reviews:

Good lake kayak but not for rivers

Rating:**
This is a good kayak for pond and lake fishing. Its hull WILL NOT hold up for river fishing. Very easy to scratch and seat mounts on the bottom of the kayak bulge through making it a very bad design. Would not recommend for river fishing.
