G. Loomis Trout Series Spinning Rods Reviews:

Extremely light, strong, nice backbone and extremely sensitive, has a slightly longer butt section than the IMX rods in same weight which I prefer. Beautiful finish, black matte and black frame alconite guides won't give off that chrome flash of the GL2 series that might spook some shallow water fish. Paired with my Stradic CI4 1000 feels like it was meant to be matched together with 4lb line. Trout, panfish, crappie, perch, white bass, perfect for streams. And finess fishing for bass. One of these days I'll get down to the coast here in texas and see how some smaller redfish and trout handle this rod. I have a IMX 7ft 4-8lb and if Cabelas had one of these trout series rods in stock for me to hold and compare, I would have bought the trout series instead because I like the features and feel and butt section better than my IMX. PLUS it comes with it's own rod sheath for storage. This rod is definitely not just for trout. Throw some small spinners or small crank baits and just take 'em down!

Awesome Rod

I live in Pennsylvania and trout fish around 150 days a year. I have always used St. Croix rods and love them. I purchased the G Loomis trout series in the 7'6" and used it this past week. I love the build of it, the colors, and the split grip handle design. I have it equipped with the Shimano Stradic C14+ And it cast very smooth. I caught a few decent sized trout and rod handled them we'll. I recommend this rod if you want good craftsmanship and quality that will last a while. I still use my St Croix rods cause they all serve a purpose.

Great Rod

The 3 ounce 5'9" Loomis rod combined with 6 ounce Shimano carbon reel with 4 pound line // 1/4 ounce classic red/white dardevle lure is the first step to heaven. Caught a 24" five pound rainbow (released) that gave quite a tussle with such light equipment. What is outstanding with this rod is the grip and the sensitivity of the tip to pick up the slightest of strikes... hands down superior to any other rod I've owned.
