G3 Genuine Guide Gear Trim Tool Reviews:

I've used the G3 tool for 3 pairs of skins now. I've used the traditional type tool that BD supplies, and which G3 also to used to include, for I think 5 pairs of skins.
Hands down - the G3 tool rules. I can trim skins perfectly in just a few minutes with the G3 tool. With the traditional old crude tool I've had a few screw ups and my skins were never cut anywhere close to "perfect" before, plus it was a dreaded task previously.

For whatever reason, this trim tool is 10 X better than the Black Diamond one that comes with their skins. This tool easily instructs you on how to place the tool against the base of your ski and is dialed in to trim the skin a few millimeters inside your edge. This way you have your edges when needed on the skin up.
I attached a photo so you can see the amount it cuts and exposes the edge.

Eliminates the need to reposition skin to trim the other edge. Not sure how others have had problems. Make sure to trim from tip to tail or you will be fighting the entire cut. Used this tool for my first time cutting my own skins. Worked great on the BD Ascension STS. Well worth the $4.
P.S. G3 also has a great Twin tip Connector Kit that is compatible with the BD STS skin.

This little guy makes trimming your skins quick and easy. Much easier to use that the trim tool included with BD skins, and well worth the hefty price tag...
I've heard rumor that this is only good for one pair of skins before it dulls, but I've used mine for two sets of skins and I didn't notice any dulling issues - just clear out the scraps and glue gunk after each pass

This is hands down the best skin cutting tool around. Although not rocket science, cutting usually requires moving the skins around on the ski and guessing how much to cut off for optimal edge exposure, other skin cutters can leave you feeling robbed after realizing your entire skin is crookedly cut. This handy tool allows you to center the uncut skins on the ski and make a straight forward cut.

I watched my friends mess up their skins as they tried to figure out how to use the BD trim tool. I got some G3 skins and we were all impressed with this tool. Mine is dull because it's trimmed 3 or 4 pair of skins so far.

Take a short strip of the wax paper that comes attached to your skins when you buy them, and place this along the edges of the skins where you're going to trim. This makes the trimming even easier because you're no longer fighting against the glue.

A great tool to get the perfect trim on a pair of skis. Super easy to use and leaves the proper amount of edge exposed. No wasting time with BD's templates and silly blade. Just put the skin on the ski and trim.

Lately I used to cut my skins.
no waisting time and trying to figure out
just stick skin and cut without figure out how much you should move to side or any other crap

Luke Molas at Backcountry.com on 04/29/2013

I just got this to cut my BD skins. This thing basically does all of the work for you and is way better than the trim tool that comes with the BD skins. Definitely worth the 4 dollars.
