good collar

Collar seems to work fine. It does not shock the dog every time she barks but it does fit well and will shock the dog when he/she start barking. I have used a different brand and this work very well. Our lab does not bark when we use this collar. We set it a level 2 and it goes up to level 7 or 9.

Dysfunctional Collar

I have been a loyal Tri-tronics customer for years, and have promoted the Bark Limiter product to many dog owners. I have, however, been very unimpressed with the new Garmin Bark Limiter. The unit is very sporadic in "activating". You need to really move the collar around a lot to get the "motion" light to blink (collar is activated by motion and will not give a bark correction until motion first activates the collar). Sometimes it won't blink no matter how sharp or drastic my movements. Likewise, when strapped to my dog, 75% of the time it is not working. I know this because my dog has no reaction and the bark odometer does not register. When I remove the collar I can see that motion is not activating the collar. I strapped on my old school TT Bark Limiter and it was immediately effective (on the same setting). I brought the collar back to exchange for another, but the other two units in the store showed the same problem (the activation light did not come on at all when I moved it). I tried this on several different intensity levels. The battery indicator showed full strength on all 3 collars. I reluctantly bought another brand instead.

Didn't Work for my Coonhound

I was disappointed by this bark limiter, I like Garmin products but this one let me down. I watched as my 7 month old bluetick coonhound barked and barked without any reservation while the Garmin bark limiter was on it's highest setting. The bark meter didn't register every bark, it would indicate 2 barks as my dog barked dozens of times which indicates she's not receiving corrections for the vast majority of barks. I believe the problem is it takes both the sound of the bark and the vibration of the dog's vocal cords to initiate the correction. Coonhounds have short hair and the collar always ended up positioned on the side of her throat, regardless of how tight I fastened the collar. Only one set of prongs come with the collar. A positive is it's light weight.
