Garmin Dakota 20 Gps Reviews:

great little unit

I have used the Dakota 20 now for 4 weekends in some heavy canopy's and never once lost signal. Each time I turned it on it found satellites within minutes and I was ready to go. I purchased the rechargeable eneloop batteries and the unit lasted 18 hours before I made the decision to change them. I have fairly large hands and fingers but have had no issue with navigating around from screen to screen. My only disappointment was after I installed the Garmin Birdseye view map. The screen size is a bit small for what I thought I would be seeing. I wish it was a little bigger and trying to get it to zoom in close and not have the view distorted is difficult but I am sure after some more trial and error using the Basemap program I will over come that. The Dakota 20 has the capability of a higher storage than what I used for the map so I will keep working on it. I have been slowly upgrading from the Etrex series and now I wonder why, I have 3 GPS's and I am only using one, I should have just saved my money and bought this to begin with. I have not been in any inclement weather yet so I can not speak for the durability of the waterproofing but looking at the way the battery cover is applied I do not see any problems. As for the glare of the sun and seeing the screen, I haven't noticed anything that was troublesome, even when it was mounted on my 4 wheeler as I traveled. Overall, I give the Garmin Dakota 20 a high rating for what I need it for. Which is everything you would do at a hunting lease, measuring/recording distances between everybody's tree stands and getting from point a to point b and back. It has far more features then I may ever use but one never knows. The more I use it the more I may find that I could use another feature

Very nice GPS

The Dakota 20 GPS comes up very fast, and appears quite accurate. Just used for 2 weeks in Montana deer hunting in very cold conditions. Worked well. I have added the Montana Hunting card, and this was very useful. Only down side is the small screen as to map use. Operational price you pay for a compact unit. Purchase price IMO was reasonable for the quality I got. Hunt buddies liked the unit also. I would both recommend and buy again.

Dzkota 20

Garmin does a great job. The reason for a 4, screen size, with todays tech. GPS's should be able to be slimmer with more screen, especially for us that are getting older and don't see up close quite as good.
I liked my 450T better but could not get another. Overall a great little unit, very accurate, easy to use and fast, works great with SD cards for the states that are available.

Awesome gps

This gps worked great. It doesnt take long to figure out how to use it. Its very intuitive! The dakota helped us find our way to our hunting spots when it was dark. I used the dakota with a Montana hunting map SD micro card. We could see right where we were hunting and ensured we were on public ground.
