Garmin Out-Front Bike Mount -

If you've been feeling that zip-tying your Garmin Edge mount to your stem seems, let's say, a little sketchy, you're not alone. And as long as we're being curmudgeons, we also find that directing our vision straight down at the stem isn't the safest thing to do in the middle of the peloton, either. That's why the Garmin Out-Front Bike Mount is a godsend for both sensible location and security.

Basically, this mount attaches to the bars, and places your Edge or Forerunner CPU directly in front of your stem plate. So, your ride data is easier to view, and dare we say it, the mount makes your setup look really pro.

The Garmin Out-Front Bike Mount is available in the color Black and is compatible with 31.8mm diameter handlebars. Please note that this mount is only compatible with the Garmin Edge series 200, 500, 510, 800, and 810. If you want to attach your Garmin Forerunner 310 or 910XT, you'll need Garmin's quick-release kit that's sold separately.

Features:

  • Compatible with the Edge 200, 500, and 800
  • All mounting hardware and user manual included
  • Shim included for 26.0mm bar
  • Easy, heads-up positioning and increased safety
  • Also compatible with the Forerunner 310XT and 910XT with a simple adjustment of the inner mount
  • Allows you to take full advantage of the data your device provides without compromising your ride or your safety
  • Puts the Edge in a position optimized for easier viewing and increased safety
  • Dramatically improves field of vision by putting the computer 6 to 8 in. further forward than a stem mount
  • Plastic mount clamps around 31.8mm handlebars; included shim lets you use the Out-Front mount with 26mm handlebars
  • Designed for use with Garmin Edge cycling computers (sold separately)

The Garmin edge out front bike mount puts your GPS in an optimized position for viewing. On bicycles with drop handlebars, it has the added function of placing the computer in a more sheltered position to protect it in the case of a crash.

Positive Reviews:

When I bought my Garmin I though that putting it out of the handlebar was not necessary, but after a couple of rides I decided to do it. Really I appreciate the reading better since I doesn't have to look on the handlebar anymore, just looking out front and a simple down to see the readings. You will not regret it.

Easy to install and places the computer just the right distance forward of the bars. Securely holds the computer without digging into the plastic base like my older K-edge. FWIW, it looks like K-edge addressed this issue with their latest model.

Excellent Mount for My Garmin

This mounts close to the handlebar stem and gives you more room for your hands when switching hand positions.

Neutral Reviews:

I learned the hard way that this over engineered and that my Edge 500 was under engineered. In a crash a few weeks ago, my Edge 500 was knocked off the bike. The mounting tabs on the 500 broke off when it was knocked off. They should have engineered the holder to break first. I like how the mount places the computer further forward. It is easier to look at when it is further out. Also it is a very clean look. The picture shows the computer tab still in place.
