Garmin GPSMAP 741xs Chartplotter / Sounder Combo Reviews:

Pleased with the product.

It took alot of reseach on my part before I put out the money for this combo package, I'm glad I did. I like the ability to standby the radar and the transducer, it gave me time to get used to the menu and save battery power, with that said I have ran the unit all day, eight plus hours with radar on standby and transducer on with no real battery drain. You have to look around in, and play with the software menu's to get used to it but it's a snap. I'm continually finding easier ways to do what I want with the unit. Took about two hours for me to install, flush mount head unit in dash, radar dome on t-top, and Chirp transom mount transducer. Over all very pleased with the unit.

Very pleased with this device

We struggled with the decision to spend the big dollars for this device, but now that it's up and running and we've had a chance to spend a few days on the water with it, we have no regrets. The screen size is big enough that each side of a split screen GPS/Sonar display is plenty large for my eyes. No problems with visibility in sunlight -- it's easy to read. User interface is not quite Apple simple and intuitive, but it's close. A nice step in the right direction. The installation was a breeze. No problems hooking up to the Airmar CHIRP transducer or the West Marine VHS radio. I made one call to Garmin service to clarify the VHS-Garmin wiring instructions, and they were very helpful. We're happy customers.

Great CHRIP fish finder

I replaced a Garmin 740s and P66 transducer with this new unit. Love the touch screen from both units. The 741xs has the ability to pinch the screen to zoom in/out. GPS update is faster for the 741xs 10 times per second and also has more waypoint storage 3000 total. I coupled my new 741xs with the Airmar TM150 transducer. I fish in saltwater that is mostly 150' or less. The old 740s preformed will in this but the new 741xs is just astonishing in the ability to separate the target fish from the bottom. Best example I can give is comparing a TV with rabbit ear antenna and new HD TV with satellite reception. The difference is that pronounced.
