Garmont Amica Trail GTX Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I bought these shoes in preparation for hiking in the White Mountains in New Hampshire. I broke them in easily on short hikes in the Blue Hills in Milton, MA. Did a 5 hour hike in the White Mountains in NH this past weekend. The shoes were perfect. They were very comfortable the whole way up and down, they gave me the support and traction I needed from stepping over gnarly root systems to scrambling up and down large granite rocks that were sometimes wet. I like the color too. No hot pink for me.

I work in landscaping and am on my feet 12 to 14 hours a day in all kinds of weather. I had a pair of Garmont boots for Winter and decided to give these a try (I actually ordered 2 pair). I love them! I have really bad feet (screws and plates in one ankle and orthotics in the other) and I can wear these shoes all day. There was no break in time and my feet stayed nice and dry. And I love the "flower" on the sole of the shoe.

If, like me, you wear UCBL orthotics, this may be the shoe for you. There is something about the cut that allows the orthotic to function properly. Now, I've added a clamshell ankle brace to the mix and by ordering a half size larger, they all fit nicely with no additional modifications. I know these are not the most attractive shoe and no, I don't really like the color. However, I love that I can buy these "off the shelf" without further customizing. Great shoe.

This shoe accommodates not only my UCBL orthotics but also a hinged brace. I did have to order a size larger but it works and for that I'm very grateful. The color, for me, is "meh" but hey, I like the shoe because it allows me to walk. I'm very active, walking four to five miles at a stretch.

Negative Reviews:

Ugh, I was hoping these would be nice and comfortable like my old Tevas of similar outer appearance. Sadly, these shoes hurt so badly that I can't even wear them. I see them in my closet and my feet hurt. Actually my 3 smaller outside toes and balls of feet are what ache the most. I tried different insoles and wore them to try and break them in a number of times but even wearing then short distances is painful. It feels like there is no cushion at all between the hard rubber bottom and the inside of the shoe. The only plus is the cute flower pattern on the soles. Oh, and I like the color but they are more bulky than I usually go for (and I wear clunky shoes). Maybe they are okay if you are more stationary but I walk around all day for my job.
