I had to replace my earlier version of this sharpener, which I liked a lot. However, the plastic frame had cracked in the high stress point next to the rod crossover. I like that they have beefed up the new version. (It is NOT the one pictured above.) However, in doing so they have made the whole thing "oversized". The rods are fixed now, so you can't lose them. So, in practical terms, it is a good update but, from the elegance perspective, it is less in my eyes.
The sharpener I received works passably; however, the item in the picture showed interchangeable sharpening rods. The sharpener I received has fixed rods, so cleaning and rotation are not an option without breaking the casing open.
