Holds up my big/tall man weight!

I have been looking for a stool to use while day hiking and backpacking for several years as my fifty plus year old knees and body have gotten tired of scrambling to my feet from an old Crazy Creek chair, but, due to my weight of 250 pounds no stool was rated for me, until I found this one. I have been using this stool in the Beartooth Mountains for day hikes this summer and last week used it for a backpacking trip in to the San Juan Mountains and it has been GREAT! My twenty something son makes fun of it, but not as much fun as he makes when he watches me try to stand up from my old flat on the ground chair!!

Excellent stool

I take a stool backpacking as my one luxury item. I bought this one to replace one I wore out. The old one had steel legs that did not fold and as a result I could not close the side pouch I carried it in. It was the type that had the large plastic disc that held the legs together. This new stool packs smaller, is lighter and stands taller....all pluses. The area of the seat is slightly smaller, but not uncomfortable.

Better than sitting in the dirt

I bought this stool to take on a week-long backwoods camping trip, but after trying it out it occured to me that a backrest would be a wonderful thing. Nothing bad to say about the stool. It's lightweight, compact, sets up easily. It sits well for a 150lb guy, but if you're much bigger it might seem a bit unstable. I'll probably use it for short fishing trips (it will almost fit in my tackle box.)

Great little backpacking stool

Telescopes with shock-cord legs, like a tent pole. Works well. Seems strong, and is light and compact. Ideal for a backpacker, or as in my case, a touring bicyclist. Certainly beats sittin' on the ground. If there is a con, it is that the seat portion is a bit smaller than I anticipated, but is still comfortable enough for a casual campground evening use.

Great For Disney Trip!

I was concerned about standing in lines on an upcoming Disney trip since I am 68 yrs old. This portable seat is perfect...lightweight, easy to set up. My only con would be that the seat could be a little bigger. But all in all, I think it is going to work out really well.

I would buy this again to my kid

When I saw this, I was in a hurry to order it so I could use it for a vacation tour. its a lot of walking where we going. I could carry it because it is a light weight and I could have used it to sit down when I get tired walking.

Portable Stool

My son and I use this product when campfire camping with the Scouts. Best feature is that it will fit in or on our packs. Easy to assemble and transport. As long as we keep in mind it is not a beach lounge chair, it is comfortable for it's purpose.
johnoski at Campmor on 06/06/2011

Great packer. Narrow behind required.

I got this for disc golf tournaments, because there is usually plenty of waiting involved. Great stool, quality material, nice finish. I bought it because it was the tallest/lightest on the market. I like it, though you really have to watch where those poles are going when you sit down!

PackSeat Portable Stool

I like to go fishing but I like to do it by motorcycling so this camp stool is light weight and compact enough to pack on the bike with other gear. I have used this 10 to 12 times since I bought, can't say enough good about it. Thanks

Nice packable stool

Great little stool. This pack small, sets up easy, and holds a ton of weight (300#). The seat is moderately comfortable. I mostly want something to sit on to tie my shoes and stuff like that. This is small enough to pack and gets the job done.

Negative Reviews:

Fabric tore after 4 days n back country.

Took the seat to Philmont. It was not comfortable. I weight about 115 lbs, after 4 days of very little use the legs tore through the fabric and the seat fabric was very ripped. Had to pack it out, carry the weight for the next week even though I could not use it. A bummer. A Ranger recommended a piece of foam to sit on (his was an old piece of foam a VCR sat on so it wouldn't scratch the furniture).

Not for men

I wanted to use this for ultralite camping and
kayak camping. I bought two of them but they are almost useless to me. It is like getting a wedgy...They could make the same design but with a larger seat area and maybe even a bit shorter like 18" tall and 14" triangle seat. I like the two piece shock corded legs. Good idea but too small.

Seating area too small

Bought for a backpacking trip to Philmont. Seat area was too small - hit my "below the waist" parts in all the wrong ways, front and back side. Did like the folding aspect and height from the ground, but couldn't get past how uncomfortable the seat itself was. Couldn't use it.
Harry82 at Campmor on 07/07/2011

Not for plus size adults

This product had a large weight capacity on it, which lead us to believe the seat area would be larger. It was purchased for someone with a walking disability to rest on, which didn't work very well since the seat area was so small.
backpacker at Campmor on 09/09/2010

More seat area is needed, not big enough

Light weight and very compact. Comes with a nice carrying case due to its ackward fold up. The fact that it does not have a large seat area as compared to similar portable stools prevents me from giving it a good rating.
Noble at Campmor on 09/09/2010

Not for long time sitting use.

This stool is not for you if you plan to sit in it for a long period of time. Maybe try the one with the back support that might work better.
Cynthia at Campmor on 10/10/2010

Very uncomfortable stool!

The seat of this stool is too small, the support for it sharp, to the point that it aggravates "the parts" for both males or females
Unhappy lounger at Campmor on 07/07/2012

For children?

I wanted this as a portable seat for birdwatching, but it's so small that it poked even my 95-lb. friend's backside.

Poor quality

Poor quality fabric tearing on seat after second night of use

Neutral Reviews:

Perfect for keeping in the car

So, some of the other reviews are making note of the lack of the durability. This product may not be built for tough use, but it functions as I expected for the ultra compact size. I use it for changing my shoes after bike rides and putting on snow shoes and ski boots in the parking lot. Works great.
RW8901 at Campmor on 10/10/2013

Requires maneuvering to set up

I use it to sit on while I'm waiting on the city bus to arrive. There are not seats at all the bus stops and I have difficulty in standing for long periods of time. It's easy to fold up and stow away but setting it up requires three hands - - and I only come equipped with two.
Anna at Campmor on 08/08/2013

Good for tiny butts.

The seat on this chair is WAY too small for me. It might be good for a young child. It's really a shame because it's really a nice folding design and is lightweight, too.
Cyberpuppi at Campmor on 10/10/2010

Small for an adult

Works fine but small for an adult
