Just what I was hoping for

I wanted a new knife, because my old gerber was chipped and worn, and a bit too big. I was going to spend up to $30, but this was the best I found at nearly half the price. And I wasn't dissapointed. It performs just as I had hoped. The smaller size was a bit awkward at first for me, but I quickly got used to it. Also, when picking out my knife at a local store, I went through a few before finding and buying one with an axis that appeared perfectly alinged. I don't know if it would have made a difference had I not. The only problem I have with this knife is that where the thumb stud hits the handle it is not annodized, but rather coated with a cheap black paint. I guess this is better than wearing through the annodizing, but it does result in a patch of bare metal after being rubbed against only a few times.

Great knife for Great price.

This is a fine Camping Knife to have when doing a simple summit hike or car camping. This knife has went through a lot with the kind of hiking I do.

A couple days ago i managed to drop this in a fire without knowing. The next day when I went to put out the fire i saw the knife laying there. Although it was in the fire for 8 9 hours it still was completely recognizable. Accually put a gold coat in the handle hahaha and the blade was still pretty sharp and good enough for use. It even closed and opened with little effort.

Great except for the clip

I purchased and another smaller for my wife. The screws holding the clip into place stripped out from normal use (clipping on and off pant pocket). Returned for a replacement at REI which is always so easy. This second one has held up better, but the clip still bends frequently.
I have really enjoyed the knife in general. Light enough I don't notice it clipped to my pocket, but tough when I need to start cutting away.

Super Great

I love the weight especially. As I'm an average sized female, the smallish form fit well in my hands. I'm going out backpacking soon and I'm certain this knife will deliver. The clip is very sturdy. The only downside is the closing mechanism. You've gotta have strong fingernails to close it, but when it is shut it stays that way. Overall, this is a great first knife for me, and for the price it is WELL worth it.

Quality and Cost Savvy!

I just bought this today! I hope I never have to use it; however, I bought it as one of the 10 Essentials for day hiking. I read the reviews before the purchase and all were true! I like that it feels sturdy, sharp and very lightweight! Even if it wasn't on sale I think it is a good price.
Be sure you are getting ther SERRATED knife and not the fine edge when purchasing with confidence.

Little Big Knife

This excellent little knife tucks away in your pocket with comfort and ease; if you don't need it, the belt clip can be unscrewed with a small torx driver).

Using just one hand, it flicks open in a snap with a satisfying click. The serrated edge cuts cord (and just about anything else) with ease.

It's solidly made, and it feels good and secure in the hand, open or closed.

You want this knife.

The "Use it Everyday" Pocket Knife

I love this knife. I carry it at all times. Buy the Smith's Two-Step Pocket Sharpener for $6 to keep this little champion sharp and you'll be happy.

I use this knife for everything from cutting through small pieces of wood/branches to trimming paper for client presentations when my x-acto knife goes missing.

Also, this is easy to open and put away with one hand and that is always nice.

This knife, is absolutely great. I am a BoyScout, and have smaller hands, and this fits me perfectly. Really. Like a custom fit. I am always going to have unless something else great comes along. It doesn't rust, is a little sharp (not real sharp) , and seams very durable. Plus, well, you can flick it open fast..but well that's not really useful.

Oh yeah, great price for the knife

Will not rust!

As someone in the military who spends extensive time in the field, I was looking for a reliable knife that would hold up to both hard work and wet conditions. This knife for most of my field time was cleaner than I, and just as wet, yet not a speck of rust appeared. Dummy-corded to my pants to fear of losing this life saver, it did its job and then some.

Excellent knife reasonable price

bought this knife at REI [$] 4 years ago. this knife is easy to open, comfortable in the hand, light weight, sturdy, strong lock mechanism, sturdy sharp blade, handy pocket clip. All great features on this simple knife. The only con is a minor one. The thumb studs on the handle cause minor wear in the aluminum. I really like this knife.

Negative Reviews:

This knife is a cheap rip off of the CRKT M-16 series, those great knives are very poorly represented here.

the knife comes too tight so the flipper dosent work and is stiff to open with the stud. with the M-16 that would be no problem you would just use a flat head screwdriver to loosen the blade bolt, only the gerber version uses a starburst shaped bolt that you need special tools to adjust.

The liner lock is also hard to use, the one I bought was so tight that it shreded the skin on your thumb to close the knife. My friend that I bought it for just leaves it open in his drawer at home because thats all its good for.

Go with the CRKT model its a great knife. the Gerber version isnt worth your money. Gerber is Garbage.

Beautiful While it Lasted.

Typically Gerber products are great. I've got multiple Gerber knives that have lasted me for years, and are still working nicely. I liked the sleek design of this knife and thought it would be just as great as the others, and it was at first. It was nice and sharp (sharper after sharpening...) and worked great. I used it for many things. After only a few months, the locking mechanism stopped working. It became absolutely worthless to use because without the lock, it won't stay open. The bolt securing the blade to the handle is stripped. Still together, but unlockable and useless. It was beautiful while it lasted.

Decent inexpensive folder for casual use

I've had this knife for several years. I carried it exclusively for about a month when it was new, then switched back to my Spyderco Delica. I started using it again recently after losing the Delica. After several months the same issues have finally driven me to purchase a new knife.

Pros: It's lightweight. It's functional.
The clip is among the strongest I've had on a knife this size. It still clips firmly to anything with no signs of weakening.
It's an attractive knife, nice design, color and finish.
No signs of rust after several years of on and off use.

Cons: It dulls quickly. The serrations are particularly difficult to sharpen, and I've sharpened many knifes with serrations from Spyderco, Benchmade, CRKT, Gerber, and Cold Steel.
It is difficult to open. After repeatedly oiling and working the mechanism I was able to get it to open with one hand and a strong flick of the wrist. A flick lock knife like this should open easily with one hand.
It has several uncomfortable protrusions. The thumb studs are too small for single-handed opening, but are still long and sharp edged. They have a tendency to snag on both entering and exiting my pocket.
The thumb grooves are too smooth to get a good grip. There are also no grooves under the finger guard. Both make the knife more slippery, especially when wet.
It lacks rigidity. It has a tendency to flex when used. I realize it's not intended to be a heavy duty knife, but it still lacks a feeling of solidness which makes me hesitant to trust it.

I can only recommend this as a casual knife, it's more glorified package opener then utilitarian outdoor knife.

The screws on the first one stripped out making the knife fall apart. After getting it exchanged for another i have not had any problems besides its just not sharp. I dont think it deserves the 4 stars it currently has.
