Gerber GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife -

The Gerber GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife has one goal: Be there for the tasks you should never have to take on without a blade. If you’ve ever bitten off a tag with your teeth, opened a well-sealed envelope with a car key, or broken down a refrigerator-sized cardboard box with bare hands, you know exactly what we’re talking about.

But your pocket knife should never put a scratch down the face of your gleaming, new smartphone as they jostle around in your bag or front pocket. Which is why we’ve wrapped this one in a protective, non-scratch coating to protect the other, more sensitive tools you may have.

The GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife can handle all the day-to-day tasks an everyday carry should, but what it doesn’t do is the hidden beauty of this compact knife. With no metal showing when closed, it will never scratch the other daily essentials you carry with you, like your phone, tablet or laptop. And at a compact 3.4 inches when closed, it will never hog space in your pocket or bag.

Its sharp, 2.5-inch, drop point blade is always there in your bag or pocket, ready to help you open a package, sharpen a pencil or cut a sandwich to share with a friend. Made of stainless steel, the blade resists rust and corrosion and holds a sharp, fine edge. The lock back safety function means that blade won’t fold up in the middle of your handiwork.

Though compact, the handle is made from grippy rubberized Techhide with an added rubberized thumb stud on each side, so it’s easy to keep a firm grip as you cut, chop or slice.

Traction and Grip:

  • Polyurethane handle is contoured for comfort and enhanced grip

  • Rubberized Techhide handle won't scratch other items in your pocket like a phone
  • When folded, this knife has no exposed metal, making ideal for carrying in your pocket along with other items

  • 7Cr17 stainless-steel blade features a fine edge and dual thumb studs
  • Dual rubberized thumb stubs help you open and close the blade safely
  • Stainless steel blade resists rust and corrosion to hold a sharp edge for a long time
  • Fine-edge, drop-point blade for quick, precise cuts
  • Lockback function added to keep the blade in place when open and vice versa

The Gerber GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife is designed to integrate seamlessly into an active, modern lifestyle. This updated take on the classic pocket folder is perhaps the best example of that philosophy. When closed, the Gerber GDC Tech Skin Folding Knife leaves no metal exposed. So you know this daily carrier is safe in your pocket next to your iPhone, in your bag next to your Kindle, or in your pack next to your laptop.
The Gerber GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife still delivers the quality and functionality you expect from other great Gerber pocket knives including a nice fine edge blade and a lock back safety function. (Fall 2014)

Feel free to keep the Gerber GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife with your phone and other fragile electronics. When the knife blade is closed, the rubberized handle prevents scratches and dings on your devices so you don't have to worry about trivial matters like that when you're camping or commuting to work. The stainless steel blade works well you're cutting envelopes or twine, or whittling a stick by the campfire.

A member of the Daily Carry line, the Gerber GDC Tech Skin pocket knife folds down small to fit easily in your pocket and folds out to reveal a reliable and durable cutting tool.

The GDC Tech Skin Pocketknife by Gerber is the ideal choice for an everyday carry knife. Its nonscratching, rubberized Zytel® 101 handle provides a firm grip wet or dry. Gerber GDC Tech Skin Pocket Knife Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

Great knife, poor quality plastic handle

I purchased this model for it's all plastic design, as I keep my pocket knife and cell phone in the same pocket. Other knives have scratched my phone due to their sharp metal parts. This knife is all rubber, all around.

However, the small plastic piece that serves to open the knife one handed, is too small and poor quality. I have broken three of these thumb tabs off the knife, which makes the knife harder to open and also leaves a metal edge which doesn't go well in the same pocket as the phone.

Overall nice quality, sharp knife, but the thumb piece on the one-hand-open is poorly designed and constructed.

Love this knife

Love this knife. I keep it in my purse / clutch / wallet / pocket - basically, its with me wherever I go and it fits everywhere. Most of the time its in my pocket, and you can barely see it. It has great grip on it and very safe to use. 3 of my friends have bought this knife after seeing mine :)

Negative Reviews:

Should stick to baby food

I no longer have this knife as it was so inadequate I had to return it and use the credit to upgrade to a real knife. I have NEVER had a knife type that so quickly developed a slop in the hinge; and yes, I returned it twice before for a new one as each got sloppy within 3 to 5 days. I knew I shouldn't have wasted my time from the beginning, what with the reputation Gerber knives have earned over the years, but I just thought it might have been about enough time for them to finally start putting out REAL knives; but no, it almost seems Gerber is literally fighting to continue to put out hunks of steel and trying to name it a knife! I probably have over thirty knives, many of which have served a long and hard life with me during my many camping, hunting, tracking, diving, trekking, mining and climbing ventures most of my 67 years and counting, and all still serve me well or the manufacturer got them back. Only 2, over all these years, have failed me and both failures, I will admit, were over-stressed to that point of failure only because of emergency situations. I only still have them both to remind me to NOT place myself in those types of situations again as well as to show others just what a really good knife should be expected to do for you in a real pinch; fail? Yes! But in a way so that I am still here and can show people just why I am. Sorry, but remember, it's not mine, it's Gerber's.
