Gerber Lmf Ii Knife -
Gerber collaborated with the military for two years developing this knife as the ultimate survival tool. The rugged, partially serrated 420 High Carbon steel blade could be used to construct a shelter, cut wood for a fire, or slice through thin metal and Plexiglas. The over-molded handle is made for long-use comfort without blistering. Butt cap and tang are separated by the handle's substrate to absorb shock when used as a hammer and provide electrical insulation from the blade. The ergonomic design also has lashing holes to use the knife as a spear head. The versatile sheath can be worn on the calf, belt or a Molle vest, and it has an integrated sharpener.
Blade length: 4-7/8''.
Overall length: 10-1/2".
Weight: 11.4 oz.
Colors: Coyote, Black.

Gerber Lmf Ii Knife Reviews:

Stout SAR knife

I am a knife nut:-)
I work for a Sheriff’s Department Search And Rescue team in Northern Minnesota.
A good blade is a must in this role.
The LMF has done everything from mundane rope, seatbelt, wood cutting and the like with distinction.
Compared to my Buck M-9, Ka-bar, and SOG Seal-pup the LMF is my goto “heavy” knife.
If I know I will be humping a pack for a long distance I will take the SOG Seal-pup (lighter to carry), if I’m in a chopper or ATV I’ll grab the LMF.
The blade on the LMF is beefy and relatively short, battoning can be done on ,3” wood.
The grip on the LMF is VERY nice,,, still grippy when wet, even if it gets blood on it.
The sheath is top notch, the friction latch is significant… I put a little bit of Dow Corning 111 silicone on it and it slides nice.
I usually have it on my back pack Molle straps,, it is big enough to interfere with my pack when on by belt. I’m not a big fan of strapping stuff on my lower leg (like in the instructions)..they don’t stay put when moving.
I almost gave it a 5,,,, more like a 4.8 , The only thing that I’m not real cool on is the balance. It balances about 1.5” from the hilt. Not a show stopper, just takes some getting use to.
Also the edge was not razor sharp out of the box. It took a few minutes to get it to cut arm hair.
Holds an edge pretty good.

Great One

I use this knife as a hunting tool and it can do so many things. Just today, it was used to trim some trash around my stand in TN. When nothing else is available, it will make you so glad you have it alone! It is also my safety knife just in case one is needed in a pinch. Since I've had it, over 2 years, it has constantly impressed me to no end. I don't go in the woods without it and neither should you. You'll understand after you handle it a while see what it can do. It is definitely one tool I wish had been purchased long ago. This tool is one you can build confidence in over time after you start to use it.

Solid and functional

Purchased this knife for a multi purpose tool to use on a survival camping trip, Very Solid, Heavy ( not light like some of the cheaper fixed blade knives). I recommend this knife for anyone that is going to spend some time in the woods, or at the pond.
