Everything you love in the Gerber Paraframe series comes in a smaller, more compact design. The Paraframe Mini Knife is made with the same frame lock design infamous with the Paraframe series. The Paraframe Mini has a beautiful fine-edge blade, made from high carbon stainless. With an over all length of only 6 inches the Gerber Paraframe Mini Knife is lightwight and easy to carry.

  • Frame lock holds the blade securely in place
  • Frame lock handle design.

  • Features a stainless-steel pocket clip for quick access

  • Both blade and handle have a non-reflective black titanium nitrate finish
  • Handle is cut from 314-grade stainless steel with an open-air design that makes it lightweight and strong
  • Design allows smooth, easy one-handed opening
  • Blade is forged from high-carbon surgical 440 stainless steel

This miniature version of the Gerber® Paraframe™ has a 2.25-inch partially serrated-edge blade and weighs just a hair over an ounce.

Please Note: This product is not able to be shipped to addresses in New York.

The Gerber Paraframe Mini Knife features 1-hand opening. Blade length: 2.22''.

There is a simplicity to the Gerber Paraframe™ that relates as much to function as it does to form. It's a breeze to open. The clip point blade configuration is ideal for cutting in close quarters. Openness rules the day where the handle is concerned – there's more air than metal, so it's quite lightweight and quite easy to keep clean.

Great Everyday Pocketknife

I've carried this knife in my pocket for several years now. I really like it. It's lightweight and durable, and it fits nicely in my hand. The partially serrated blade makes it a versatile cutter. The well-designed frame lock ensures it will never close accidently. While the knife can be opened using only one hand, this is not as easily accomplished as Gerber touts (most likely because of its small size.) The blade has held up fairly well for several years without any sharpening, and I've subjected it to cutting everything from fish, rope, boxes, and food, to the wire ties attached to my toddler's new toys. My favorite feature is that it is small and light enough that I can carry it in my pocket at all times without even feeling it there, yet it's not so diminutive as to make it an impractical cutting tool. For a sub-[$]price, you will be hard pressed to find a better quality, more reliable pocketknife.

loved it, lost it, ready to replace it!

I bought this last minute. honestly needed to spend a little more to get free shipping so i went ahead and picked this nice little knife out. I admit im not knowledgable about knifes but i LOVED THIS GUY!
I knew the Gerber brand would be trustworthy and it came in handy so much! I loved just the concept of having a small sharp pocket knife so i maybe partial to my first. the only reason i didnt give it 5 stars is the opened handle concept makes it easier for the blade to get dirt stuck in there. Im pretty clumsy and its locking mechanisum is not simple to open especially accidentally. takes two hands to open. but i lost mine after only a month and want to replace it!!!

Nice tool for Trail Running

I always carry a knife when running trail. On a recent trip to Alaska I was forced to leave my CRKT at home since I couldn't take it on my carry-on. So I ordered this on REI and had it shipped to the ANC store. It was smaller than i had expected but met my needs overall. I wear a running hydration pack and this knife fit well into the front sheet pocket. It did not bounce given its light weight. I used it around the camp in Denali and performed basic camp functions with it prior to race day. I now carry it in my laptop bag daily as a nice low bulk alternative to a swiss army style knife.

Sturdy, well designed compact knife!

Bought this knife due to the small size, light weight, and design. I personally love the design. And note that it's really quite small. 3" in length; 3/8" thickness excl. clip and 4/8" w/ clip. Feels very well made and sturdy, with a tight locking mechanism. Takes quite some force to release the lock, such that if you open and close the knife 10 times your thumb will start to hurt. Be careful when closing the knife with one hand.

Overall, lovely (cute?) little knife, stylish design, very well made. Small and light. Locking mechanism may be a bit too strong, but you'll get used to it.

Gerber Mini Paraframe knife

I have a couple of these in Day Packs for hiking and fishing and I routinely give these as mementos to my Eagle Scouts as they achieve that rank in Scouting. For those who are prone to losing the open-frame knives, affix a lanyard through an opening and attach the end around the belt on your pants or a secure loop on your pack. Items that can fall out or fall off, eventually will! Major cutting, food prep, or cleaning are best left to larger knives with longer blades and handles. This is a very good product. I like it.

Best Pocket Knife I've Owned

I bought this as a replacement for my beloved gerber multitool that I donated to the airport last year. I work in the field, so a year is a long time to go without a knife! So far, it has been fantastic - the blade is sharp, the serration cuts through parachute cord like butter, and it's so light I don't even know it's there until I need it. It's very small, but it says so in the description.

Tight little package

Made with all the quality you'd expect from Gerber. I've carried Gerber knives in the woods for years. A name that hasn't let me down yet.

Love the small size of this knife. The position of the lock release is such that closing it too fast is dangerous. You have to hold the release just below where the blade closes. Of course handling any knife requires caution, but be extra careful when closing this knife.

Everyday Knife

I love my mini Gerber and carry it everyday. Yes its, small which makes non cumbersome to throw in your jeans pocket. Photo doesnt show it, but mine has a clip so it doesnt fall to the bottom of my pocket.
I bought the bigger sized model to use on serious overnights outdoors but quite honestly this model does it all.

Small blade, great deal

I bought this blade as a means to open boxes for customers and was pleasantly surprised when the edge stayed as long as it did. Since purchasing this knife in 2008, I've sharpened it twice (about once a year) and been very happy with the functionality and durability of this Gerber.

Excellent compact survival knife

Gerber is known for good knives, i've owned two in my life, and gave one of them to a very good friend of mine. He was impressed.

I recommend this knife as an extra "back-up" survival knife, but not as your primary source of cutting.

Negative Reviews:

ok for the money - but disappointing

I own a nice CRKT knife already but it's pretty large and doesn't have a clip, which means it isn't the most convenient for everyday use. I got this little Gerber because I thought it would be an ok "beater" knife to carry around in my pocket.

Is it functional, as in, does it cut things? Yes. Unfortunately, that's about where the positives stop for this little thing. The moving pieces are put together too tightly, which means opening and closing are somewhat difficult. I would definitely not risk the one-handed open or close that the specs brag about.

My primary gripe about the knife, however, is that the clip is so absurdly stiff and tight that it is virtually impossible to open it up enough to clip it on to anything. I can't clip it onto the outside of a pocket as I had hoped to be able to do. In fact, I can't clip it on to anything, which means the clip itself is nothing but dead weight.

For what I paid at REI, it's barely worth returning it. I will probably keep this knife around and use it, but I'm disappointed that the one feature I bought it for (the clip) is basically nonfunctional. At some point I will probably just fork over the extra cash to get a nicer everyday knife like the CRKT Mt. Shasta.

Not impressed

Disappointed and not impressed.

Although it's a nice size for dropping in your pocket, it's a little weighty. Sort of like carrying a dollar in coins. The clip is a nice feature but the screws tend to snag on clothing. It takes two hands to open. Difficult for someone with average size fingers and darn near impossible to open with one hand.

When closed the blade is protected and not capable of accidently opening. When open it has a secure lock but forget about ease of closing. Takes quite a bit of effort to close using your fingertips and nails which tend to get painful after a few times.

If this was a fraction thicker, capable of being open with one hand and with a normal thumb lock, it would be perfect.

I'm returning this one and getting something else.

OK knife, goofy lock,

This is a nice, small knife that will last. The lock mechanism is a little hard to use and requires the user to put his/her finger right in front of the blade to close it. The mechanism reduces weight and complexity, but is not as easy to use as a standard lockback blade. The blade also was a little sub-par in its finish, especially for Gerber. The side of the blade opposite the serrations had a bit of a "lip" that should have been ground/polished off in manufacturing. I own other Gerbers and this is not as good as the rest. Good for day-to-day carrying because of the compact size, though.

Super dull out of the box, too small

I got this to use at work, for opening boxes and letters and such. It was so dull out of the package that it literally couldn't cut through paper. You can accidentally grab the blade through the handle, which would be a problem IF there were any chance of it cutting you, and opening the knife is more difficult than it should be.

Not recommended at all. I returned mine and got a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian instead. Yeah, that's a lot more expensive, but you get what you pay for.
Bogus Maximus at REI on 11/11/2012

Blade too loose straight out of the pack

Straight out of the package the first thing I noticed is the blade opens way too easily (without intention) and could open accidentally being carried the wrong way or in a pocket causing some serious injury. I am going to return it. Liked my old Gerber but not this one.

Once the blade is open and locked it doesn't feel dangerous like the lock would fail or anything, but the risk of the defect here is not worth it.
thehypercube at REI on 07/07/2012

Bad knife

This knife did not work for me. The blade wobbled up and down and side to side. The steel was also horrible and didnt take an edge and didnt hold one. I am extremely happy i lost it after a year. There are much better knives for this price.

Neutral Reviews:

Good value, but there are better

The knife is a good value for its price. However there are many better knives out there for only slightly more money. It was decent for every day cutting tasks, and the size/weight will allow the user to carry it frequently. But it is isn't a very clean open/close mechanism, the edge doesn't hold for long, and I have found Gerber products to be of constantly declining quality.

For a knife of comparable size and usage I highly recommend the spyderco delica 4.
KyleSchulz at REI on 07/07/2010

This is my first knife so I haven't had much experience with it out camping. I've used it for day to day tasks and it's been great. I am not a big fan of how it closes, I like things that click or have a button and this just has the lever you press and close. Sharpness was good, but as I said I am not experienced with pocket knives. Overall it's a great simple day to day knife! Perfect pocket/purse size.

Nice litte nice

Very nice looking little knife. I like the serated blade, something I didnt have in a little knife previously.

This knife is significantly heavier than similarly size gerber compact knives that I also own. No gram-weenies...
