How is woman different? Start at her feet. Not that they're dainty or delicate, but that they're differently proportioned. Giordana recognizes this and has designed their FormaRed Carbon Women's Socks, to fit a differently shaped foot.
The difference isn't so much length, but width. Giordana makes these socks narrower through the arch. And because women are typically a bit shorter of stature, the cuffs are at the "short" cuff length, 5cm, with 2cm the distance from the heel to the cuff.
Other than these changes, Giordana built these socks with the same materials and same exacting standards as the men's version of the sock. Giordana uses Meryl Skinlife fibers to construct these socks. Meryl is a polyester fiber that has a permanent bacteriostatic treatment. This means that it stops bacteria from reproducing. So it limits odors and other less pleasant things that can go on when you're sweating in socks for too long. The socks are 65% Meryl, 31% polyester fiber, and 4% Lycra.
Because this is FR-C, the sock fits superbly. You should be able to easily see how the yarn has been knitted to different densities for different regions of the foot. Dense at the heel and toe. Meshy where you need your feet to breathe. To get the fit even more dialed, there are left and right socks.
Giordana offers these socks in three cuff lengths. These are the long cuff socks, meaning they have a 13cm cuff with 4cm from heel to cuff.
The Giordana FormaRed Carbon Women's Socks come in White/Black and White/Red. There are two sizes, Small and Medium.
How corny! But, these are just great. I wear a U.S. 7.5, and the 'M' fits just fine.
Light weight, sock is nicely vented on the top. Does not have any padding on the bottom as Gore's Xenon. Not quite as breezy as the L.G. I reviewed earlier; but still very nice.
Got the black/pink to match the FR-C black/pink breast cancer awareness jersey & shorts. Pretty sharp.
