Giraffe Pr Royal Robbins Autobiography - Book Review:
Looking Forward to More
Royal Robbins' autobiography is a thoroughly enjoyable, quick read. The chapters and sections are laid-out in quick bits so it's easy to put the book down in short intervals if you don't want to spend an afternoon reading. In the first volume, Robbins flips from a solo winter climb in Yosemite to reminiscing about growing up and how he first got into climbing.
The book is well-written and pulls you in from the first page to the last. It is believable and truthful(even though obviously written from his stand-point...hence "autobiography").
I just purchased the second volume and am looking forward to receiving it and reviewing that one as well.
The only negative that I have is that, personally, I would have rather had 1-3 larger volumes rather than the 7 or 8? that he's going to write. But these little autobiographettes certainly do whet the appetite for more. Great marketing, Royal!
