The Solara's Zytel nylon soles offer a stiffness that is comparable to carbon fiber, but is ultra-durable and strong. Two hook-and-loop straps and a micro-buckle allow you to dial in your fit on the fly, and the Aegis anti-microbial treatment keeps the stink levels low.

  • The Solara is built with the same comfortable fit as our premium shoes
  • A supportive EVA footbed enhances fit and comfort
  • 2 rip-and-stick closure straps provide a solid, secure fit over insteps and are offset to maximize comfort and minimize pressure points
  • Supple microfiber upper and a micro-ratcheting buckle that offers very precise fit adjustment

  • Dupont Zytel® nylon soles efficiently transfer power to the pedals and provide greater fatigue resistance than traditional nylon soles
  • Lightweight microfiber synthetic leather and nylon mesh uppers give a glovelike fit with excellent breathability
  • Stiff DuPont Zytel nylon outsole rivals the performance of premium composite outsoles

Support and Cushioning:

  • Molded EVA footbeds with medium arch supports offer in-shoe comfort; AEGIS Microbe Shield® antimicrobial treatment helps deter odors

  • Giro Solara road bike shoes are compatible with 3-bolt cleats; please note that cleats are not included (cleats typically come with pedals)

  • Aegis anti-microbial treatment keeps shoes smelling fresh
  • Perfect choice for enthusiasts or recreational riders who are on the road to becoming dedicated cyclists

Giro Solara Shoes Reviews:

LOVE these shoes! I've been cycling for 10 years, but this is the first time I've really invested in a pair of shoes. I never believed it could make that much of a difference, but woah does it! I generally wear a size 8.5 shoe, the 41.0 fits like a glove. I have such a better connection to the bike in these than with my ancient, cheap shimano's. I ordered the pricier Espada's, but found that they felt nearly identical in fit and weight to the Solara, and after riding the Solara's once, I fell in love and sent the expensive ones back. On steepandcheap the Solara is an absolute steal! I was also worried the black would be hot for summer biking, but they managed to stay cool in multiple 90 deg/2-3hr rides thus far.

These shoes are great! I have low volume (narrow?) feet that seem to swim in other shoes. These fit perfectly, are very comfortable, and are also really cute.
I tried on some shimano shoes at another store to figure out what size I should get. Then I looked at the size chart for these and ignored it and instead ordered the same size as the shimano - 37. The shoes were then 2 half sizes too small. If I had just used the size chart they would have fit perfectly and would not have required me to drive over to the factory to exchange them.
The size chart is true to size. I wear a 6.5 street shoe size in most shoes and I wound up in a size 38.

A year ago I got the Giro Reva shoes for my Shimano Click'R PD-T400 Bike Pedals. I loved the fit and decided to get the Solara shoes for my Shimano 105 PD-5700 SPD SL Pedals. They are light and comfortable to wear for long rides. In EU sizes I'm usually 37, but for Giro Shoes I am 38.
