Excellent Helmet | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I ride about 100 to 150 miles a week and wore out a Giro Eclipse size M helmet after after about 7 years of heavy use so it was time to replace it with a new Giro helmet. The paint and graphics on this helmet are gorgeous but unfortunately, my previous helmet was a size M and so I ordered this one in size M to replace it but it fits very snugly and seems to be sized about a half size smaller than previous size M. I think this helmet is as good as the ones you pay $100 to $200+ for--I think they use the same materials but get a little fancier on the graphics on the more expensive models--so getting this Giro for around $50 was a great deal. I like the helmet, but wish I had known that today's size M is a little smaller than the size M of a few years ago and I probably would have ordered a size L for a better fit. Try one on at a local store if you can to be sure the size is right for you and then order it here to save some $$. | |

Crash Test | |

| I just had the experience of truly testing the reason we all should wear a helmet. I purchased this helmet 6 months ago and just recently was t-boned by a truck going about 20 miles an hour. My head hit the truck along with the rest of my body and after everything was said and done the helmet did its job of protecting my head. The helmet survived with barley a scratch and let's just says that I will be purchasing a Giro again! | |

Comfortable and functional

This is my first helmet outside of the one-size-fits-all type that my parents tried to make me wear as a kid, and the upgrade is tangible. This is a good helmet for commuters--not too bulky, comfortable, yet I feel much better as the pickups buzz me on country roads. I recommend this one for people who don't fancy brain damage, but also can't justify the expense of a racing helmet.

Very Impressed | |

I just wore my helmet for the first time and I have to say I love it. It felt very snug on my head and I feel very protected with it. The only concern would be that the straps feel a little awkward but after some riding I got used to it so over all it was great!

| How can you go wrong with Giro. Great price for a great helment. I try to support my local bike shop but at the price offered by Sierra I had to purchase this helmet and save some money for some high end componets I needed. | |

Great Cycling Helmet | |

| For the price, this helmet is perfect. I already own the blue Giro and when I got my red and white bike, I had to get the red one too. I use it for competing in triathlons, cyclocross races and regular road rides. | |

This is a great helmet the locking mechanism on the back cinches this thing securely to my head, never concerned about it. Has excellent ventilation with its design, straps are a little awkward feeling but they feel good so it is ok

Strange Design, Good service

| My head must be strangely shaped because this helmet seems to be a little flat and makes my head look very very strange. On the other hand Altrec was great and I plan on buying again very soon. | |

Cool and Light | |

| Appears to be a quality helmet with good ventilation. Lighter than the average helmet. Easy to adjust the fit and comfortable. If you are border line on the sizes, go with the larger one. | |

Awkward | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| While it is nice to be able to adjust the straps throughout their side to side range, the fixed points for where they come through the chassis are uncomfortably placed. I could not get them away from my ear enough to be comfortable. And, the plastic bands that adjust the tightness sat 1/4 inch down on my ears. Very uncomfortable. I followed the sizing guide to place my order. Can't quite tell if it was a half-size too big or just overly-designed. I guess I should get fitted properly at a bike shop and not order something like this online. Sorry Sierra Trading Post; I still love you. | |

Way too small | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I cannot rate most of the categories because the helmet was too small to even fit on my head. I have ordered Giro helmets before and have not had this problem. I would not order this particular helmet | |

Giro Stylus Cylcling Helmet

This helmet looks great on and is very comfortable and easy to adjust for a snug fit. It had dried glue on the outside, a couple of spots looked nasty, but I was able to flick them off easily. The inside felt lining that goes against my forehead has come unglued so I need to repair that. Happened second time i wore it. But overall I like the fit, feel, and nice appearance. Too bad they didn't take more care on assembly. I would recommend this helmet only if you find it onsale or check it out in person. I would not recommend ordering it full price unseen.

OK helmet, nice price | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I gave this helmet an extra star because of STP's discount pricing. I would never have paid full retail for it. It is a fairly average helmet in terms of fit, padding, ventilation and constuction--nothing special. The chin strap is awkward, difficult to adjust and presses against my throat when it is tightened down appropriately--I finally gave up and just wear it loose. Interior padding is minimal and attached with velcro which allows you to take it out but not actually adjust it. I utimately decided that, for the price, it was worth keeping. | |
