GNU Danny Kass XC2-BTX Snowboard -

Danny Kass may be best known for his pipe-riding glory days, but he is also always down to tackle the rest of the park or go through the gate to send it into powder just like his pro model Gnu Danny Kass XC2-BTX Snowboard. With a snappy flex, power twin shape and hybrid-camber XC2 profile, this deck is a great ride for experienced shredders who are just as likely to spend the day lapping the jump line or the pipe in the park as they are to be seeking out cliffs and pillow lines in the woods.

The XC2 BTX profile features aggressive camber zones outside the bindings for powerful turns and rocker between the bindings for float in powder and a more forgiving ride on hardpack. Serrated knife-like Magne-Traction edges create additional contact points along the sidecut to provide reliable edge hold on the slippery slopes and icy pipe walls. Lightweight liquid crystal polymer fibers dampen vibrations for a smooth ride. A mid-wide width increases stability in the park and improves float in the deep stuff, and a twin shape with a slightly set-back stance adds power and control without compromising your ability to ride switch.

Traction and Grip:

  • Magne-Traction edges

  • Sintered base
  • Co Ex topsheet
  • Rocker between feet with radial camber towards tips
  • Aspen and Columbian Gold wood core
  • True twin shape with slightly set-back stance
  • Liquid crystal polymer fibers
  • UHMW sidewalls
Find your way through any scenario on the mountain with the versatile Gnu® Danny Kass XC2 BTX!
Twin (equal length and equal width) tip and tails combined with a centered radial sidecut. Rides equally well in both directions with a focus on freestyle.
XC2 BTX contour features a tight radius rocker between your feet combined with radial cambers out to the contact, providing unreal tip and tail control, power and pop combined with the float, freestyle freedom, and carving of rocker between the feet.
Magne-Traction .5 features serrated edges to give great edge hold all over the mountain especially on hard-pack and ice.
Aspen/Columbian Gold Core provides long-lasting pop and great feel.
Liquid crystallinity is achieved through the heating of a polymer past its melting point, during the cooling phase polymers form highly organized linearly aligned self-reinforcing structures resulting in incredible mechanical properties.
Sintered Base features compression hardened amorphous UHMW skived from the billet to create the toughest, fastest, best wax holding base material around.
Co-extruded topsheet.
Ultra High Molecular Weight exterior sidewalls made from soy-based elastomer are laminated to five internal wood layers for totally bombproof sidewalls.

GNU Danny Kass XC2-BTX Snowboard Review:

This board is a wide waisted C2BTX board built by mervin. I only had it out for a few days this year, but it was a blast when I was on it. The magne makes it super stable on hardpack and icy slopes, which helps balance out the rocker in the middle which can be a bit unstable on flats and hardpack low slope. Where this board really proved its worth was surprisingly drops/jumps into powder. It was really stable on landings and never took a nose-dive. The profile was amazing in pow, even though this is marketed as a freestyle board. This is a great board to have if you are merging the backcountry/big mountain with freestyle riding.
It is fairly stiff for a freestyle board, but can still can give you plenty of's a bit on the slow side in terms of response due to having such a wide waist. Super fun board if you are looking to have a board that can handle some big features for freestyle.
