Foot Heaven

Many years ago I had a couple of pairs of wool socks that I just hated, and have never bought them since. Wow, wool socks have come a long way since then! My feet kill me, and they're always hot when I shovel snow (thick cotton socks, sweating, DUH), and even though they're good quality cotton socks, the soles flatten the longer you're on your feet. The first time I put these on I couldn't believe how awesome they FELT, like a gentle, soft, foot hug. Walked around for hours in the cold in my regular shoes, my feet never got hot or sweaty, and the cushy feeling never ended. I'm hooked, and immediately bought a couple more pair for myself. They've been washed twice now, no shrinkage at all. Great product.

Definitely a Winner!

My feet perspire a lot and can often feel damp and cold in the winter. These socks are just great in comfort and my feet are dry! These particular socks are very usable for just about anything. I recently retired from teaching, and while I purchased 7 pair, if I were still working I'd purchase another 7. As is, I like them so much I ordered 10 pair of similar but thicker/outdoor crew ones for wearing fall/winter/spring here in MN for all things casual. I'll then save these for when I do need to be a bit less casual. I figure I'm set and happily sock comfortable for 5 + years.

Great socks, with one caveat

These are really great socks...I like everything about them, and the brown color is just what I wanted. But, as some other reviewers have noted, they run really SMALL. I wear size 8-1/2 shoes, and I purchased these socks in the M/L size and they were way too small and the ankle band was very tight. I liked the socks in every other regard, so I ordered more in the L/XL (which is supposed to be for shoe size 10-13) and they fit just fine; they are not at all too large.

fits the description well

These socks are warm, dry and comfortable. I used them recently walking around San Antonio on a trip in 80 degree weather, then, rode my bike with them under my tights and in bike shoes back in Colorado in 50 degree weather. they did not become sweaty in the warm temps, and they kept my feet warm and did not become clammy in the cool weather. what else can you expect for a sock? a good weight for casual work socks. I'd buy more.

Good Socks

These socks are comfortable and surprisingly warm for "dress thickness" socks, which is exactly what I bought them for. I ordered several more pair after trying the first ones. They shrink a bit after washing & drying, but are quite stretchy and will fit over your foot even though they look small. Go up one size from ML if your foot size is greater than 9.

Comfortable warm and wicking

I have diabetes. That means I MUST take care of my feet. I used to wear cotton socks, which was fine in a dry climate. In high humidity situations cotton does not get the job done. I have gone to wool. These socks perform as advertised! My feet are warm in the winter and dry in the summer and always comfortable!

love these socks

I bought one pair to try them and ended up ordering two more pairs afterwards because I like them so much. Very comfortable as they having a hiking sock type base but on the other hand they are stylish enough that they could be worn going out or going to the office in the winter time.

great colors but tight ankles

These are excellent socks, but sadly I returned them, bc of how tightly they constrict around my ankles. And friends tell me I have thin ankles! (I'm a female with large feet.) Sniff. If you like to be 100 pct sure your socks will NOT fall down during the day, these socks are for you!

Dry feet, not sweaty clammmy;Check it out

I was looking for black socks that would wick moisture, add cushion for walking and stay up in my lace-up boots. These work great even in the summer heat and hopefully this winter too. I can't stand itchy wool so I was skeptical but the merino wool doesn't cause me to itch!

Goodhew Wool Sante Fe

These USA made socks are pretty good, they compare favorably with Smartwool. After the first two washings they do not appear to shrink as much as Smartwool. Well made, comfy socks. I have purchased other Goodhew socks that fit much smaller than listed, but these were true to size.

Negative Reviews:

A little too tight

I have had good experience with Goodhew socks in the past, but I'm not crazy about these. I wore them for a few hours, and they left an indent in my skin because of how tightly they grip my leg. There is a fine balance between too much elastic and too little, and somehow these socks don't find the happy medium. By the way, I have a size 9 foot and I bought the XL. I can't imagine what they would feel like on a size 12 foot.

GOOD LOOKING/TOO TIGHT

The L/XL felt great when I put them on, but at the end of the day I had sock imprints on my legs forever! Seriously, I wear a 12 and these are just too tight around the mid-leg. If you have a smaller foot you might want to order size up (or two?)

Very tight fit in calf and foot

I like washable merino wool socks, but these are so tight in the calf and through the foot that I don't think I'll wear them often. If you have skinny legs they may be fine.

too small for a large

these socks in a large were smaller than the med. i got for myself now he will not be able to use them.

Good casual sock

Not a workhorse but seems to be adequate for daily casual wear.
