Gore Bike Wear ALP-X 2.0 Gore-Tex Pants -

While your tires might not be ready for a wet trail, your pants will be if you're wearing the Gore Bike Wear ALP-X 2.0 GT AS Pants. Using a proprietary fabric construction and a cycling-specific anatomic fit, the ALP-2.0 pants are ready for the worst that Mother Nature has to offer. Just think how stressful a trail side flat is without a tube, and then add wind and water. Don't get caught off guard; gear up and ride out.

Gore Bike Wear's ALP-X 2.0 GT AS Pants are made from Gore's patented Gore-Tex Active fabric. This material adheres to Gore's rigorous standards of lightweight, windproof, and waterproof construction. The multilayer fabric design ensures high breathability and well regulated moisture transfer away from the skin. Not only are the pants designed to compete with the weather, but provide a precise, anatomic fit as well. The fit is supported by pre-shaped knees, an adjustable waistband, and a high-cut back with a zippered stow pocket. For protection from long-term saddle friction and chainrings, the pants also feature a wear-resistant seat reinforcement and Velcro leg-fasteners. And although the ALP-X 2.0s are made for the mountains, you're going to have to ride home at some point. That's why Gore's included reflective side piping, a reflective logo on the seat and legs, and reflective print on the hem.

The Gore Bike Wear ALP-X 2.0 GT AS Pants are available in sizes X-Small through XX-Large, and in the color Black.

Gore Bike Wear ALP-X 2.0 Gore-Tex Pants Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

These pants delivered ! All the things I hated about wearing rain pants ( hot, noisy, ill fitting, and constraining) are now just a distant memory. These pants kept me dry and comfortable on very wet rides through western Ireland. And they breath so well and are so easy to ride in, that I was very happy to wear them on windy, misty rides, too. They are articulated so there is no annoying pulling at the knees while pedaling. They make a little bit noise while pedaling but not bad. And as far as rain pants go, they are surprisingly flattering : no bagging around the butt or waist. A small design improvement would be for the ankle Velcro closing to allow for a snugger closing and assure chain clearance. I usually wear a women's size 6-8 or Medium and the Women's Large fit well.

Negative Reviews:

In theory, these would be great...everything in the reveiw was just what I was looking for, even a looser fit (thought they may also be worn OVER another pair of pants for extra warmth & protection); but from the knee down they were just way too baggy! I think these should stay on the "mountian". The velcro didn't stick together like it should, and even so, they were still too baggy, and could easily get caught up in the chain, etc. So dissapointed, had to send back. Might be good for hiking, unless you want to bungy or tape the pants around your calves/ankles! No insulation, just basically a shell...which still would have been o.k. if they would have designed them more "cycle" friendly.

Neutral Reviews:

Found out about pants' leg bands; in particular, a product by Deuter that is a bit wider than most other straps I've seen, so it holds the pant leg more securely. It also has a 3-M Scotch Lite reflective strip and secure velcro closure.
Gore seems to run on the small side (aside from the REALLY baggy legs of these), recommend order one size up & get the Deuter leg band (the one I got retails at $11.00, look for that one); your local bike shop will probably have to special order it from their catalog, as did my favorite shop; or go directly to the Deuter web-site...be safe...good-to-go!
