Granite Gear Leopard A.C. 58 Pack Reviews:

Everything you need and nothing you dont

I've used this backpack on three trips so far and have found it to be a perfect fit for a variety of conditions and loads. A Garcia bear canister fits snugly under the lid even when the pack is at full capacity. The fabric is very sturdy and dries very quickly when wet. The torso is adjustable, which helps the pack accommodate different loading styles. The waist belt is very nice, but runs large. The regular size pack comes with a Medium waist belt, which is almost too big for me. (I am 6'1 190 lbs 31 waist). I may consider going for the small sized waist belt. The design of the suspensions system/waist belt really distributes weight nicely to the hips. The shoulder straps float comfortably and have additional straps to draw the pack closer to your body without tightening the shoulder fit. I like how few compartments this pack has as it helps me organize my gear better to 3 central loacations. I also really like the roll top feature as it helps the pack compress. Some people may find that once the pack is rolled closed and compressed it is hard to access some gear. I believe the sacrifice of access for compression helps enhance the pack performance. I would say this a great pack from someone who wants to put a lot of miles in light weight and comfortably. Oh Yeah and it super durable too!

An even better Granite Gear pack

I bought this after losing my Granite Gear Vapor Trail in a house fire. Why they don't sell these in any REI stores out east is beyond me. They are way more comfortable than any other brand offered in the store. The 58L regular is a perfect size for all my backpacking needs. I'm 6'2" 175lb. This pack improves the only problem that other GG packs have, the inside water pouch is now huge with a big zipper and can easily handle a 3L water bladder. There are way more bells and whistles than my old vapor trail, more than I need actually. Storage is absolutely no problem. I could easily carry a week's worth of food, with plenty of water, a 2 person tent and have room to spare. I usually carry at most 40 lbs, which this bag can handle just fine. I'm sure it could handle a few more pounds easily.

What a great pack!

This is one of the most comfortable, versatile packs I've ever used. We just came back from a backpacking trip in Arches National Park, where I was carrying 5 liters of water. This pack handled the extra weight fantastically. I especially liked the adjustable shoulder straps and the ability to remove the top lid to save weight. With the optional hip belt pocket, this pack is hard to beat.
