Granit Gear Nimbus Access FZ - The name says it all: Nimbus means it has a 3D Tepex Nimbus style framesheet: the best-fitting, most comfortable and durable frame on the market. Access means a panel loading system that makes packing and unpacking a breeze. FZ means it is leaner and meaner than most. Light Packs, the pack category that means it is designed for the backpacker that travels light (not ultralight). The main differences between the Nimbus Light Packs and the Nimbus Ultralight Packs are the beefier fabrics and the addition of a hip belt with an exoskeleton of HDPE plastic that supports more weight without sagging, and an external lid. Finally, 3800 means 3800 cubic-inch capacity.

"Killer value!"

Rating:*****
I wanted a bag that had panel access, but was still tough-enough to handle some abuse & some weight - as I migrate towards ultralight. This bag is the perfect balance - a pound or so more in weight, but worth it for the heavier molded belt & top cap (that turns into an eazy-off lumbar bag which I have not needed to use yet). It's real easy to get at your stuff, and it holds a bunch as the collar expands upward. The compression straps across the body seem to be made to hold a rolled up thermarest & sitpad. The "latitude" access zippers are hidden by those flaps (would be nice if they had a picture of that!). Legendary GG comfort is true. I can't wait to get back out!
