So GREAT I'm buying my it again!

Rating:*****
I first bought this pack in 2005 for a trip to Borneo to do habitat mapping for Orangutans in Tanjung Puting National Park. It was thoroughly abused on that month long trip, wading through swamps and the jungle in 90 degree weather with 100% humidity. This pack breathes well and I was never uncomfortable; well..maybe from the leaches but not from the pack. It held up great for this and other field research over two years. My favorite features, beside comfort, were the angled water bottle holder and the little zipper pockets in the waist strap. I could keep up with the Dayak guides and still get a snack or my water bottle without having to stop and take off my pack or ask someone to get out my water bottle. Also, the fact that it's proportioned to fit a 5'2" womans body is awesome. The XS fit me like a glove. Sadly my first one was stolen and I have wished for it back many times. Now I'm preparing to go to Tinian to do some bird surveys and I'm so happy to have found this pack on-line! It's no longer available at the retailer where I bought it because it's an older model. The new models don't have the angled water bottle holder which was one of my favorite features, what was Gregory thinking? I recommend this pack for use as a day pack or for a weekend backpack trip. I checked extended travel but as a daypack not for a major backpacking expedition; it's not big enough for that. Get this pack ladies!

At last, a pack that really fits!

Rating:*****
I bought this pack primarily to carry my gear for my job as an ecologist and monitoring specialist. I needed something that could carry field books, a clipboard, camera, GPS unit, hydration pack and extra clothes, without squashing my lunch! I love this pack because it has a number of separate compartments so I can keep everything organized and not end up with a gooey ball of peanut butter and jelly dough where once I had a sandwich. The pack fits so well that I hardly even know I'm carrying extra weight. I've tried many packs and this one fits better than any I've had in years. It sits just right on my hip bone rather than in the middle of my back and the shoulder straps don't pinch my neck. My only complaint is that the zippered opening on the main compartment is a little small making it hard to pack bulky items like my clipboard.

Carried 3 days of gear into Havasupai!

Rating:*****
Just got back from a 3 day trip into Havasupai (8 miles in and roughly 2 miles from the lodge daily into Havasu Falls, Mooney Falls, etc. This pack carried 3 days clothing; trail mix for in/out of the canyon; my camel pack with 1/2 gallon water, plus 2 24oz bottles for our day trips; apples; my Keen sandals for the day trips into the waterfalls; a full size beach towel; my swimsuit, a book, first aid kit and bathroom essential kit. I rated this item before my trip as 5 stars and would give it that rating + after hiking with it into the Canyon and out again. Perfect fit for a woman and although it is small, with creative packing it held all I needed! Sierra Products rock!!!

I love this pack!

Rating:*****
I use this pack for day hiking and traveling and love it. It fits a small frame perfectly and is sooo comfortable. (I'm 4'11" and short waisted and have the XS.) Distributes the load so it is painless. The toploading does mean that I am always digging around for something, but all the exterior packets are great. Means I don't have to go into the main pack for little stuff. And yes, it does have an outside port for your waterbottle hose - it might just take you awhile to find it! I finally marked mine with a dot of nail polish because it is so well hidden!

The only pack I found that comes in XS

Rating:*****
I searched high and low to find a pack that would fit my 15" torso. The XS size is just perfect for me. The pack looks good, is light, fits comfortably against the back and shoulders and doesn't ride up against the neck like so many other packs I tried on. The hip/waist belt is also very comfortable and provides great support. I do fairly long day hikes (two per week on average) - the Gregory Iris packs all my essentials as well as extra clothes with room to spare. I love this pack.

Haven't field tested but like it a lot

Rating:*****
Bought this backpack to be my mainstay for traveling light. I haven't taken it on a trip yet or loaded it up in preparation, but it looks like it will do the job very well. It's well padded and designed thoughtfully, with compartments built into the waist strap and a "cupholder" thingie for water bottle. It also looks like it would be hard for someone to get into it from the back and steal things. Nice color and best of all it's built for woman's frame.

Gregory Iris Backpack Rocks!

Rating:*****
I got this pack to hike into Havasupai this fall. I have been 'training' with the pack partially loaded on our daily hikes in the national forest. I'm very impressed with the ease of getting it on/off and with the way my camel pack fits into it. The side pouches are easily accessible for extra water bottles. I am looking forward to putting it to the true test this fall!

Very Comfortable

Rating:*****
Remember that this is a DayPack. It is small; but PERFECT for shorter females like myself. And The COMFORT! Wow! I absolutely love it! There are some side panel zipped compartments on the waiste belt that are very cool and handy. Very pleased.

Custom Fit

Rating:****
I purchased this pack because of the available sizes it comes in. I am a petite woman and needed a pack that fitted my frame well.

Negative Reviews:

Pack did not have it

Rating:**
I sent it back before using it because it didn't have anything "special about" it. I do extended backcountry day hikes- desert and snow shoeing in back mountain terrain. Too small of an interior - no outside opening for the hydration bladder's tube (couldn't figure that one out as it said it was made for a bladder pack) - The internal frame was OK - and the side pockets on the hip for cell phones or cameras were OK, but once trying it one it just didn't have the fit. I'm 5'6" and small boned and am looking for a fitted womans pack - not the one. Especially if you are 10 hours on a trail.

shoulder straps too closely placed

Rating:*
Sent it back. Unable to correct the shoulder strap placement, will rub sides of neck raw. Pity, but appears to be built for a pencil-neck rather than a normal human.
