excellent hiking daypack
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This is an awesome hiking daypack and fit me very well with minimal adjustment. That is really why I love it - fit. Even my husband finds it quite comfortable though it is not quite the right size for him. It is big enough for a daytrip or possibly an overnight if you only need minimal gear. The ventilation helps make it very comfortable on hot days. I also found it had an appropriate number of pockets and water bottle holders, etc. It could use a zippered pouch in the head area for keys, but otherwise is a well-designed hiking daypack. However, it is not the greatest pack for a bookbag. Perhaps this is what the 0 stars reviewer is getting at. Because of the ventilation and the frame that does a great job of transferring weight to your hips while letting some air get to your back, the pack is curved. It is not the right shape for stuffing in a lot of books or other large flat objects. If it doesn't fit you right or you want a bookbag, this is not the right item. | |

"Great daypack for the price"

| This Gregory Jade is great for a dayhike because it easily holds what I need and the compression straps hold the smaller loads down good and solid. What makes this pack great, is even though it is on the smaller side, it can still hold ALOT, if you plan to go longer than a day. It is toploading, which makes filling the pack easy, but what totally sold me on this model was the front access panel, which allows you to get items from the bottom of your pack without having to take everything out. This is by far the coolest feature! Even with alot of weight, the pack feels light and comfortable. I love it so much that I recently bought the Jade 60 for longer multiday hikes. | |

"love it for 1-2day stuff"

| i recently used this bag in the grand canyon for a few longer day hikes and was really happy with the pack. it was very comfortable on both waist and shoulders, left a gap for my back to breath (most bags say this and actually dont), and unlike other non-female specific bags, it was just right on the shoulders (rather than contstantly falling away and then off my shoulders.) the chest clip also is adjustable up/down a bit, compared to other bags i own where the clip is always sort of awkwardly in the least comfortable part of my chest. i am 5'3" small framed female ('cept for the chest area) and could not be happier with this pack. would recommend to other people of similar body type. | |

| I LOVE this pack! I can't praise it enough. I have no idea what the other reviewer is talking about! Yes, it doesn't have a ton of pockets, but it is designed as a day pack. This pack is soooo comfortable, with great back support while keeping your upper back dry. Even packed full, I didn't feel like I had a big heavy pack on my back. I have a very hard time finding good packs (I guess I am picky) so I am thrilled to find this pack. | |

Great pack for short trips.

| I used this backpack on my first backpacking experience in the Yosemite High Sierras. It performed beautifully. Even though I had no experience, it was easy to pack and carry. I had plenty of room for all I needed. The pack never shifted and it kept my back cool throughout the trip. Loved the all-access front zip for retrieving items at the bottom of the pack. Made packing and re-packing really easy. | |

| I bought this pack to use as a one night camping/daypack. The drawcord is really difficult to close and gets wrapped up on itself a lot. The water bottle pockets on the sides are hard to slide anything in and out of because they are tight, which you might think would be a good thing except when the pack is placed on the ground the water bottles sometimes pop out. The wire frame is lightweight and curves inward allowing air circulation between the pack and your back. OK, cool. BUT, when I put a filled 3L Camelback reservoir in the pack it angles out into the center of the compartment and is hard to pack things around/under and once you do get stuff in the space it creates BEHIND it, they are hard to get out. If you remove the wire frame to prevent this, the pack tends to sort of collapse upward and becomes very uncomfortable. I first used the pack on a day hike and it was mildly annoying. I wasn't taking things out and putting them in much. Then, I used this pack today just carrying stuff around campus and I was tempted to throw it away. Pros: It is very comfy with the frame inserted. The waist belt is padded well. | |
