Four Season Assault Pack!
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I purchased the Z35 with the intentions of a high capacity day pack that I could use in either the summer months or the winter. I loved the way the pack contours to my back and the adjustability it offers in order to do that. I use the pack for mainly snowshoeing the Adirondack high peaks in the winter and long summit bids in the summer. So far, that bag has not let me down & I don't see it happening anytime soon! Of course, nothing is perfect. The only real issue I have encountered with the Z35 is the hip belt. It transfers the weight perfect, and is durable, but I noticed that the hib belt, when secured tightly to the body, rides up the abdomen a bit and causes some minor irritation. It feels as if the hip belt is compressing the userâs abdomen making it almost too uncomfortable. The DTS suspension and the mesh back panel are superb on hot days in the back country. Air flows through to keep you cool! If I could change one thing about the Z35, I would make the main compartment a bit roomier, for those long winter hikes. I am glad I made the choice to purchase a Gregory pack. I love the color I purchased (Onyx) and I feel I spent my money wisley. | |

Nice Pack | |

| My wife and I had North Face day packs and they were very uncomfortable and did not fit us right. I purchased the Gregory Palisades backpacking pack and loved it. The REI sales person suggested that we check out the day packs from gregory. We ended up returning the northface and picked up this one. It was a little more expensive than the others, but worth it. The pack is really comfortable and holds a lot. I like to have a lot of stuff with me on day hikes, so this was the bag for me. fits great, lots of pockets, and easy to get in and out of, even in winter gear when we have been snowshoeing this winter. It has a nice roomy sleeve for a bladder and great outside pockets on the waist for compass, knife, flint, etc. if you want to carry more than a powerbar and stick of gum on a day hike, check out this bag as a great mid range size solution for your day hiking needs. I love this pack | |

| Gregory makes great packs. After going through a few trying to find the one for me, I ended up with the Z35 for extended day trips. It's not big enough for overnighters, unfortunately, unless you don't have a tent. I could fit all my gear, including a bear canister into the z35, but the support wasn't there. That's not the point of this bag (the Z65 is). The reason I ended up with this over all others (and why I stick to Gregory) is because of the support you get with the bag. Almost all the weight can be transfered to your lower back and hips, making the pack easy on most of your back. While you may get more weight with the bulked up padding, the comfort and support you get outweighs it. Also, the airflow through the back is very nice, until you get up on a ridge on a windy day and your back can actually get too cold with the wind whipping through to your sweat soaked back. | |

Phenominal Pack! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I looked at every pack on the market and the Z35 had all the features of the larger packs but the versatility of a day pack. Little details like elastic keepers to tie down loose straps etc. The shoulder pads are thinner than some but as you wear the pack you realize they are there merely for stability and carry very little of the load. The suspesion is outstanding and all the weight is on your hips where it should be. I took this pack up into the Sandias on the winding desert trails above Albuquerque... fantastic day pack as well as 2-3 day backcountry trips. I can strap my sleeping pad and tent to the outside (there's still plenty of attachment points left). I can carry stove, sleeping bag 70 oz bladder, 2 32 oz nalgenes (outside pockets), change of clothes/socks and food for two days and it comes in right at 30lbs. Very verisitile pack! | |

| I tried on several day packs before purchasing this one and I found this one to be comfortable, to fit my long torso (I'm 6'3''), and to have many features of a full-size backpack. The padded waist belt with accessible side pockets is great and the straps adjust easily to include the load lifters. The frame structure and mesh in the back keep your back from sweating as much. I use it primarily on day hikes of 7-10 miles in the Smoky Mountains and I always carry enough water and food for the day. It has numerous compartments and pockets that allow you to organize your stuff. Although I have not tried it yet, it does have a pouch for a bladder drinking system. I look forward to many comfortable hikes wearing this pack. | |

Pretty good so far | |

| Pros are that it fits me, I have been through so many different packs. The problem I find as a person with a 22" torso, is that many of the packs that would meet my needs, are too short and place pressure on my lower back. It is great to be able to access all of the contents of the pack with the zipper. My main complaint is that there are not enough pockets. I really wish some of these higher end back pack companies would take something from CamelBak and provide a seperate insulated compartment for the bladder. This would eliminate numerous issues that I have found. | |

Excellent for Weekend Trips
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I've used this for weekend trips and long day hikes. After four years it is still in excellent condition with minimal wear and tear. I find it to be lightweight with enough capacity for my minimal selection of gear. This backpack is excellently suited for the backpacker who wants to spend one night out. It can be used for two or more nights, but the support system ceases to provide comfort once thirty pounds are packed. Bottom line: comfort and durability for the light packer. | |

"Sweet pack" | |

| The Gregory Z35 (Fall 2009) is super lightweight and comfortable. It has a ton of adjustable straps that make any load easy to carry. The back mesh panel is my favorite part - it is like a bed of air on your back. The only downside is that the wonderful back panel cuts into the interior of the pack. I thought it would be larger inside - but for a day/overnight pack it is perfect. Get It. | |

Everything Pack | |

| This is a great pack! The roll top is awesome for climbing gear, everything can fit in the pack but also has gear loops on the outside to attach a rope. I have used this on a 3 night backpacking trip, you must pack ultralight though. It handles loads very well there is enough padding to support medium to heavy loads. All around great pack. | |

Great Pack! | |

| This pack is excellent for the person who wants to move fast and light, yet does not want to sacrifice comfort. The only con is that it may be a little heavy for the fastpacker purist. Overall this performs well with loads up to 30lbs and is great for any overnighter. | |

A little small | |

| It's a great pack, the reason i give it 3/5 stars is that i find that it's a little small to do longer trips with. I returned mine and got a Z55 instead. | |
