Grivel G14 Cramp-O-Matic Crampons - The Grivel G14 Crampons combine the technical performance of hot-forged, vertical front points with the low-profile, collapsible frame of the G12 to make an altogether fresh, modular, and customizable crampon suited to many climbing disciplines.

Country of Origin: Imported

  • Low-profile crampon frame places the climber’s foot closer to rock or ice, and is less prone to balling up

  • Stainless steel safety strap permanently mounted on front bale prevents loss of crampon if forced off the boot

  • Made from chromoly steel with 11 or 12 points (mono- or dual-point use)—alpine climbing crampons with the technical performance of their ice and modern mixed counterparts
  • Made in Italy

  • Hot-forged points provide better penetration of hard ice with less vibration; offer opportunity to combine vertical and horizontal axis
  • Front points are simple to configure: User can build mono- or dual-point crampons and replace worn points easily
  • CE and UIAA Certified
  • Semi-rigid crampon

A new generation of crampons. Ten points in contact with ice while youre walking, 12 that bite into the slope during traverses. This has been made possible because the third pair of points are shorter and wider apart. On top of this the last two front points have a double angulation to maintain bite when descending or traversing sideways. The crampons points are short and designed for the new requirements of "mixed moderns" alternating ice and rock. Sharp points are ideal for anchoring on ice "cauliflowers" and when in traction or adherence. Even the soles of the most modern boots are perfectly covered. Semi-rigid model in one adjustable size. The bar can be regulated by hand, in two different lengths. These New versions have a new binding made in "bi-components" giving greater efficiency and lightness. It is really an "all seasons" crampon, very light and takes up a minimum of space as it folds up completely on itself. Includes Anti-Balling Plates.

Grivel G14 Cramp-O-Matic Crampons Reviews:

These crampons are tough...

These crampons worked well with my Koflak Degree boots (also recommended). I used them for both vertical glacier climbing and in the deep snow and ice of Mt Elbrus. They went on very easily (careful, they are sharp) and provided an unfaltering grip. They were one of the most commonly used crampons among the guides in the Caucaus Mountains in Western Russia. One problem I noted upon return was their tendency to rust - not sure if that is systemic of all crampons.

Great crampons that are worth the $

These are great. There are no worries about slipping. You always have a secure grip, either it be ice or snow. Great on all terrain: icy trails, hard packed snow, and vertical ice. They are a slight bit heavier then some but they are worth their weight. You have to oil them after every climb to make sure they don’t rust (They are steel, this will happen!) They are also worth every penny.

great all around crampon

The G14 are a great all around crampon. I got a little rust on mine but i did not oil them when i put them away for the summer. so that is my fault. They did not work with the Vasque Ice 9000 double boot. the boot was to large for the front bail. They work great with the Nepal extremes though.

Good set of spikes

It works great, versatile. I like the mono/dual option. Had some difficulty getting screw in when switching to mono points since the point didn't fit nicely into the appropriate notch. After that they were awesome.

great crampons

awesome crampons, so far ihave only been able to use them on vertical ice and some mixed climbs, but they are great and i have faith that they will do great for alpine routes

Not for vertical ice

An aggressive alpine crampon, but the secondary points are too far back for vertical ice.
