Overall Decent Buy as Sale Item

Rating:****
I purchased the pants as a sale item, specifically looking for dark brown convertible pant. I'd read the cons about the belt and about the baggy legs, but thought they were worth trying anyway, and i was pleasantly surprised. i actually really like the belt and use it on other pants. i do wish the legs were slimmer, but the width and the length of the shorts were fine when unzipped. i'm short at 5' 1+" and needed to hem them up considerably. The waist is a comfy, nonbinding fit and sits on my hips, which is right where i want em (I'm 115-118 lb with curvy hips). They were perfect for my vacation--they packed well and dried very quickly even in humid weather. If the pant legs were slimmer, also would've liked side pockets on both sides, one that wasn't zip. back pockets ok although i'm not a huge fan of velcro pockets, but not a dealbreaker. All in all a decent pant that served the purpose intended, and the price was right.

Great Pants for the Price

Rating:****
I have to agree with one reviewer about the clown pants comment. That's all I could think of when I put these on. They are only baggy from the knee down, and I plan to shorten them (really long for 5'4") and taper the zip-off portion. I have a small waist and a full seat. Hard to fit. These seem fine. I was surprised. This is an excellent price for zip-off leg pants. The fabric is soft and very light. Easy to pack, wash in sink, and dry quickly. I like the pockets. I plan to take them on safari and far east and central american jungle trips. They should be perfect. It is a little tricky getting the zipper started again to zip back on, but with some practice should be fine. I agree that it would be tough to take off the bottom part with boots on.

Good Value for the Money

Rating:****
I've been looking for lightweight zip-off pants, easily packable for travel. My husband found these and also ordered the equivalent for men. They are a good value for the money, true to size, but as with most women's pants for the Average American woman at 5'5", they again come in just a bit too long. However, not that long that you'd need to hem them. We'll see what happens when they're washed. Age old question - why do men's pants come with inseam lengths and women's don't?? All in all, I'm sure I'll be glad to have these when the morning starts out cool but warms up in the afternoon; one less pair of shorts to pack.

Some product specs misleading

Rating:****
I pack light for adventure travel to lesser known/developed destinations. These pants are multi-use, multi-temperature, and easy to wash out by hand and quick-drying. However, the online specs mentioned a 17-inch leg opening, which I assumed was vertical on the pantleg, for easier off-and-on of the zipoffs without shoe removal. There are no such openings, which would be nice, and specs are misleading. Also, zipoffs do not fit on either leg, so you have to make sure you have the correct one for right and/or left. Other brands make zipoffs work on either, which is better.

Comfy for hiking

Rating:****
I was a little nervous about buying these because of other reviews on the fit, but couldn't pass up the price. I was pleasantly surprised. Perhaps because of how I'm built-tall, wider hips and thighs and narrrower waist for my size-these fit me well and are really comfortable for hiking. I do wish they had ankle zips or slits and velcro tabs to make getting the bottom legs off during a hike more convenient, but otherwise they work great. Ordering a second pair.

Very comfortable panats

Rating:*****
Breathable for work yet fabric looks good lounging, shopping or hiking. Doesn't snag easily like some other kinds I've purchased, length good-covers ankle area of shoes/boots. Dries quickly, washes up great, comfy leg style, non binding, I want to buy another pair.

Nice

Rating:****
They do feel true to size, but do not set on my "natural" waist, they are lower. I was thinking of returning them, but they are nice, so will see if I can get used to them.

great!

As a woman of a certain age, my temperature fluctuates. Yesterday I flew from Baltimore to Atlanta to Las Vegas and I put on and off my legs 8 times....air conditioning....sweating...air conditioning, etc!

Good Bargain on Versatile Travel Pants

Rating:****
The belt is ugly; I tossed it. But I ordered these pants for an upcoming European vacation. I think they're perfect for that. The fit is fine.

Rating:*****

Too long for me

Rating:*
I bought small, but it is very loose and long. Bottom part doesn't open up so you have to take off your boots to take off the bottom part of the pants. Quality is poor also. I'm returning it.

Way too baggy in legs!

Rating:*
I could have kept these pants because the waist and length were true to size, but I sent them back [...] They were so baggy in the legs that they looked ridiculous. They don't look like the picture.

Strange fit

Rating:**
While the waist seemed true to size, the legs and hips were HUGE. It was not a flattering fit. They would have been perfect for travel if the fit had been better.
Flower Power at Sierra Trading Post on 09/14/2010

Way too big

Rating:**
Everyone said these ran small. I found the opposite. They were too big, with wide legs and did not have the advertised inseam. I returned the pants.
Sailorgirl at Sierra Trading Post on 07/20/2010

want to feel like a clown?

Rating:**
these pants were a good buy,but would feel silly wearing them because the legs are so very baggy!

Too baggy through the legs

Rating:*
Because of the zippered legs there is no way to alter these pants to taper the legs.
elaineinsc at Sierra Trading Post on 08/04/2010

would not buy

Rating:*
had to return pants--my regular size was much too small

Nice but baggy

Rating:***
The legs are cut very wide, so the pants look baggy, even though they fit well in the waist and butt. I'm trying to figure out how to take them in, but zip off will make that hard. Will return if can't figure out a way to do it!
Hiker Gal at Sierra Trading Post on 06/21/2010

nice, but baggy

Rating:***
These pants would be great, if they fit well, TO BAGGY in the legs sent back, when I tried them on ,thought they looked like men,s pants...sure enough they fit my husband.

baggy

If only they made pants for women

Rating:***
Rise is too short for mature women. Unless they want their belly button to show.
